Anyone had a good experience or can recommend a place that does convertible top repairs, hopefully west end Toronto. My 01 986 has a small tear in the plastic window and needs replacing. Any help or recommendations are welcome. Thanks.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
I know the feeling well Guenter, Spring is just wonderful in Southern Ontario. Sunshine, blue skies and my 986 . Enjoy.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum

Still shocked every year when my 986 starts on first crank. Little puff of smoke then the engine settles down to a nice mellow rumble. It might be 17 years old but it still puts a big smile on my face every Spring. Wonderful car. Mine has been almost bullet proof with nothing but very regular oil changes and routine maintenance. Feeling better already after a long Winter.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum

I also live in Southern Ontario and have owned my 986 for 16 years.I store it every Winter generally December - March. Connected to a battery maintainer, lots of air in the tires with fresh oil and a full tank of gas, the car sits untouched until Spring. It starts first time always. No leaks of any fluids or oil ever. It's a dry as a bone and runs better than new.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Yup. I am in Mississauga near 401 and Mississauga Road. Message me if interested. Kenby Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
I have a pair of new, unmounted, Dunlop Sports for the front. 18". I had them as spares for my car but never used them. You pay shipping. Contact me if interested.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Thanks everybody for your insight, the tires are on now and I have initially set them at 32F/34R. I am sure I will play with this. Seems to me at the track I ended up running 32 all round but that was a while ago. Thanks for your help.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
I am having a set of 18" Super Sports put on my 01 Boxster today. They come highly recommended, does anyone have any experience with these tires? Any suggestions for tire pressures? Thanks for any help.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
I have an almost identical wear tear mark on my 01 Boxster. I am currently sourcing a plastic window replacement . I could get away with doing nothing as my car is a fair weather driver but I am picky and want it perfect. I will post when I get a quote.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
I store my car for about 5 months each year. During that time the engine is not started at all. When I store the car I fill the tank with premium 94 octane fuel and add a bottle of fuel stabilizer. I have never had a problem doing this. I don't think you need to add stabilizer if you are running your car on a regular basis throughout the year.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
There are normally several days that you could take the car out during Winter. I don't bother as I carefully put the car into storage mode, all fluids topped up, tires overinflated, fuel stabilizer added, cleaned, covered and hooked up to a battery maintainer. The other thing of course is I downgrade the insurance coverage during Winter. Certainly makes Springtime special.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Yes, Guenter, you are absolutely right it's like Christmas in the Spring. This will be the15th Spring MY 986 will come out of it's Winters rest. It has never ever failed to start and run smoothly after clearing it's throat. A very special time of year. I think I had better call the insurance company!by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
It was a great event and a good turnout. Great cars on display and just about every era and model represented.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
I would be very suspect about the warranty situation. If you buy a pre owned Porsche with CPO from a dealer it's a great insurance against problems. If you are not familiar with the sound in a Cayman drive a couple of others first before you make a decision. A flat six makes a totally different sound from just about every other car. Pfaff owns Porsche and Audi dealerships and has a close relatiby Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum

Well I am not a newby by any means but I rarely post these days. I have been on the board from the very early days and regularly follow the discussions. Spring once again lets me unwrap my 01 986 which brings me lots of pleasure. As always it starts up first time, very little smoke and runs smoothly. The car has been virtually maintenance free with very few issues. It still is a pleasure to driby Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Growing up in the UK, if you took your driving test in a car with an automatic transmission you were not permitted or licensed to drive a standard transmission car. On the other hand if you took your driving test in a manual shift car you were licensed for both. The feeling was that driving a standard transmission required more skill and required a more skillful driver. I still love the buttery sby Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
yup, it was Abe. Spent more time talking about acquiring the car than actually owning it.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
I remember very clearly watching the race and then seeing the accident. It was clear from the commentators tone that this wasn't just an ordinary accident. Then seeing no movement coming from the car. The reports on TV were getting more and more grim. A very sad day for racing. Not sure what happened. We have been having very hot weather and suddenly the trunk lid will not stay up. Any ideas how to fix?by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Thanks for the time and effort that folks have put in to get the board up and running. It would have been a real shame just to let it fall apart like that. Good work guys!by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
