A buddy was ticketed in Winter Park just as Pedro said. He flashed an oncoming car to warn of radar and it cost him an expensive ticket.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
I have an '02, Lapis blue and find that the clearcoat shows lots of scratches. Get some 3M (or others such as Mothers etc) scratch remover. 3M used to call theirs "hand glaze", but I guess they found out that calling it "scratch remover" sells better. If the scratch isn't deep enough to feel with your finger nail, you'll be surprised at how easily they can be made to go away. If you can feel thby tom coughlin - Main Forum
I know it's hardly a reason to influence the purchase of a car, unless of course you like to drive your toy to the course, but it is a reason. I've seen 911 guys pull clubs out of the pass. seat, or have them propped in the rear seats whereas I open my rear trunk and there they are! Go for it-good luck!by tom coughlin - Main Forum

When I wanted to buy some new PS-2 N rated Michelins, Costco was about $300 cheaper (they even had me contact Michelin to get the right part number). Naturally, I was worried about anything bad that could possibly happen and I let them know that I was concerned. The installer made sure to call me over two or three times to point out existing scratches before he dismounted my wheels. Of course,by tom coughlin - Main Forum
I'm starting to think about upgrading from my '02 to a newer Boxster. Let's assume that I go up at least five years which would get me to an '07 or newer. I know the '05 was somewhat of an update year, but I have not followed the various improvements over the years. Are there any important annual changes that I want to be aware of, let's say for example the '03 that got rid of the plastic rearby tom coughlin - Main Forum
2002S with over 131 K miles, asking $12K. Look around, I think you'll find the right one at your price.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
I found one or two DIY video clips that were helpful. When ready to replace the whole module into the fender opening, be sure that both of the "tabs" are in their guide rails. It's possible to get the first tab in and not have the second one actually in the guide rail. Visually check that both are in, Good luck. Tomby tom coughlin - Main Forum
The rear trunk lid seems to want to be open even though I keep closing it. Is there any adjustment? Thanks, Tomby tom coughlin - Main Forum
Of course they know all about Porsches (I've owned a 356 since 1979) but none of them has the car bug at all. Second daughter recently had a part time catering job and one of her fellow workers gave a snide remark about having worked a party for a Porsche club, and made a comment along the lines about some big boys who had not yet grown up. My daughter laughed and told her fellow worker that herby tom coughlin - Main Forum
that stopped it from moving (I think it was in the Boxster). Get the flashlight out and go diving for dimes.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
buy a battery from them. My battery was flat and I assumed I'd need a new one. I called AAA but when the local guy came he warned me that the battery they had wouldn't work satisfactorily on my '02 Boxster.Since he was already there and offered to run diagnostics on my battery I said "do it". It turned out the battery was fine, just needed a charge (light left on, door open??). I charged it andby tom coughlin - Main Forum
I actually jury rigged it to work by trimming the connector, pushing it through the mounting hole and manually connecting before locking the headlight module, only to find that my low-beam problem was still there. I checked the old bulb and it looked OK. My mechanic thinks it'll need a new harness to the headlight.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
Such a simple DIY headlight replacement-what could go wrong? So, I got out my manual and did it as described except that when I turned on the lights to check, no lights on the replaced side. A little investigation showed that I had problems with the car mounted electrical connector. Something had shifted and the yellow plastic (9963124600) L shaped retaining clip was broken and under the car wereby tom coughlin - Main Forum
bigjim: I live in suburban Boston and drive my 02 year round. Oh, yes winter tires are a must even if the roads are clear you'll lose grip in the cold. In the spring you may want to take it to a car wash where you can power wash the undercarriage and get some of the salt off. Other than that, enjoy. Tomby tom coughlin - Main Forum
55K miles seems low for a clutch job unless abused. What are the symptoms?by tom coughlin - Main Forum
comment about now being able to drive top down in FL reminds me of the Winter Park Doctor who once asked me if we could drive our convertibles in Boston with the top down in the summertime. My immediate response was "Hell yes, why do you think we own them?" Tomby tom coughlin - Main Forum
The light did go off a few times, always to come back on the next time I started up. The brake pads seem to have some more life in them but will get replaced next week. Other than in Winter Park and St. Pete. I don't think I saw another Boxster on Route 95 or on all the other routes on the trip from Boston to West V.and then to FL and back to Boston. I suspected that the Pcar guys designed in enough slack, but my drive home will be more enjoyable without the concern hanging over my old brain.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
Pedro and others. I'm in Winter Park, drove down for a 50th Gator frat reunion and the wear light came on. Can I make it home to Boston if I promise to be gentle with the brakes? It's an 02 with 58,000 never done the brakes. If not, anybody got the number for a good indy in W.P?by tom coughlin - Main Forum
I've got 17" dunlops which came maybe 4 years ago with the rims (so I didn't choose the tire). They've been fine in our wonderful Boston weather, but I have no means of comparison to other winter tires. I hope that helps, Tomby tom coughlin - Main Forum
OK what about the golf clubs? Even if you store them at your golf course, sometimes you wan to play somewhere else. My clubs are in the Boxster rear trunk. Where do they go in/on a 911? Tomby tom coughlin - Main Forum
I just bought a high speed air compressor and note that it requires 15 amp. On my wife's car I found the rating in the owners manual (in fact I found two different ratings,10 amp and 20 amp for the same car in the same manual) but can't find it in the 02 Boxster manual. I thought that before I blow the fuse I should ask if anybody has this fact at hand? So, anybody know the amp rating for the ciby tom coughlin - Main Forum
The Griots catalog has a "high speed" inflator that I'm planning to buy. The little one I bought at a car part store is way too sloooow!by tom coughlin - Main Forum

I've had mixed experience, but then nothing at all major. As you know there are several good indies around, both North, South and West of town. I've found Randolph Racing technically sharp and in spite of the name, doing street cars too.by tom coughlin - Main Forum
Even if if it doesn't snow, watch out. When the temp is below 45-40 degrees you lose grip, so be careful. Not only can the back kick out on you the real problem is the increased braking distance needed. I used to drive my summer tire car is Boston winters on dry days and ended up scaring the crap out of myself on the interstate on-ramps while accelerating.
