Has anyone tried the DIY technoflow on a 2003? I followed instructions and found the 3" parts to be much too big (especially diameter on elbows). Any thoughts?by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Thanks for the responses everyone! I did drive it last night and when I was experiencing issue no 1, I shifted into neutral and, as you probably guessed, the problem persisted. So, it seems it is probably the tires; I guess I will have to wait till it warms up to know for sure. I forgot to mention that the tires are classified as "max performance summer" so I suppose I should have expected tby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Boxsterra: Thank you for the quick response, I forgot to mention the tires were balance @~60,000 and the front were balanced again at @~69,300. Point of clarification, are you suggesting this diagnosis for issue 1 or issue 2? Thank you!by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Gang: So, as you may or may not remember, I have been on here "complaining" about vibrations with my Boxster for about a year. Recently I have begun to experience a new type of vibration and the return of a variation of an old vibration. First: Recently, when I start up the vehicle and first start driving, I feel very noticeable, though not violent, vibrations in the steering wheel. I can aby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum

A while back I told the story of coming out from work to find that someone had attempted to remove the spoiler-top from my Boxster Sad days, I thought I was out several hundred dollars until Pedro informed me that I need only replace the spoiler-top. Well this is where my dilemna has really developed. Apparently, up through 2002, Porsche utilized a spoiler-top that used expanions rivits to afby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Pedro: Thank you. Any idea what the 986-375-049-02 part is/does? Regardsby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
That appears to be the mount w/ bracket; I am looking for just the mount.by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Hey gang, quick question. I need to replace my transmission mounts and want to go the route of replacing just the mount as opposed to the entire bracket with mount (looking to save some money). Another site suggests that part no. 993-375-049-05 mount is functionally equivalent to the OEM part. However, a quick internet search reveals that this part is a engine mount. Further, the "993" mounby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Any chance you have a left front headlight washer nozzle? (Part No. 996-628-334-00-M100)?by mnchstrcityblues79 - Parts for Sale
Not to steal your thunder, but I am looking for the exact same thing. Plenty new out there (approx ~$175+) but I am looking for a cheaper, used option. DC Auto does not have them (and have not had one for at least 10 months now). For reference: Part No. 996-628-334-00-M100 2003 986 Baseby mnchstrcityblues79 - Parts for Sale
Sorry for freaking out guys lol ... Pedros diagram gave me the "seed" info and I found what I am looking for ... 986.504.609.02 G2X Several options (new and old) and NOT $500. Still confused about expansion rivets vs the clips i have/saw but oh well (see pic) Uploaded with ImageShack.usby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Pedro: Thanks but I am confused, the spoiler trim on my 2003 was literally held in place by four tension "clips" that are part of the spoiler trim. No rivets that i see. Whats the part number for the trim itself? I google searched that number on your diagram and it produces anywhere from a gas cap to a "valance" This is what has the clips that broke (though my spoiler is OEM). Hey Gang: Interesting problem. I came out from work today to find the plastic portion of the retractible spoiler to be loose. Upon further inspection, I discovered the cheap, plastic clips that held it on to the retractable portion had broken. I can't for the life of me figure out how this happened but I am more apt to believe it was due to sun fatigue as opposed to vandalism. Anyway, doesby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
QuoteAS2003 I've done this experiment a couple of times: the difference for me between top up and top down on a long highway drive has been about 2-3mpg. This was as true for my 2003 986 as it is for my current 987.5. Thank you very much for your post. It doesn't exactly comport with my experience but when you factor in my 4k+ approach, I think I know where my mpgs are goingby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
QuoteNaples986 it helps your IMS. Then you read that cars with TIP rarely have IMS issues, my 986 TIP hardly goes over 2k unless I am on the highway. I'm with Gary on this, enjoy the ride. No TIP on my ride. And yes, to address everyone's concern, regardless of MPG, I intend to enjoy the ride.by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
QuoteGary in SoFL No, stay in third gear and don't sweat the little stuff like fuel economy or mythical IMS issues. Very helpful post, thank you.by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
So what I need to take from here is use 5th gear? Lolby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Great stuff guys, thanks. No worries about IMS issues and low RPMS?by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario Quotemnchstrcityblues79 Well its more than just curiosity, I am getting about 21 mpg's when driving primarily with the top down. That seems really loooooow. I'm just trying to eliminate potential issues. But, as everyone has accurately pointed out, who cares? I'm driving around with the top down in the beautiful North Carolina weather. You are lucky. So I am sure it has been discussed multiple times, but what type of mpg drop are you seeing when driving primary with the top down. Right now w/ my 2003 986, I am looking at about 5 mpg's. Now keep in mind I dont have the rear wind stop. What does everyone else experience? Does the rear wind stop make a huge difference? Regardsby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
I love my base-model 986. I dont think I will ever understand or enjoy anything that takes away from the "intimacy" of driving a 5-speed Porsche.by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Thanks, Pedro ... this is part 987-375-023-05-M100 we are talking about, correct? That will fit my 986?by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Hey gang, long time, no chat. Unfortunately work has kept me away. My 2003 986 is exhibiting tell-tale engine mount issues and I believe I am as certain as you can be without removing the mount that the mount, in fact, needs replacement. In my research I discovered that, at one time, Pedro offered replacement engine mounts that were, based on the reviews I read, superior to the OEM part. Sadlby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Thanks for the input, guys. I am less apt to believe its a bearing issue because I haven't experienced the tell-tale "womp womp". I am no mechanic but if I had to use an analogy to describe the issue, imagine a dog preparing to sit on command. As the dog begins to "crouch" (decelerating) the rumble vibrations start. If the dog decides to lift its back end out of the crouch (acceleration) the rumbby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
2003 Boxster base, approx 59000 miles Issue: Occasionally, when driving (over 40 or so) I get this sensation that seems to be emanating from the "back" like I am driving over rubble strips. Nothing too serious, just that subtle noise and "feeling." It goes away with time and, occasionally, seems to correspond with letting off the gas (similarly, occasionally, accelerating seems to eliminate tby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
