See if Eric at might want a set. When I wanted a set, he mailed me someone elses and took mine in trade when they got to him. Which implies to me he has a use for some for inventory.by mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Parts for Sale
Ford is talking the introduction of cars talking to each other. Tesla says that there are still challenges their system can't overcome. Give my kids a stick shift car and they couldn't get it out of the driveway. My simple cable box just broke last night, wouldn't power on. Second one in a month. relating to putting a ribs and canvas '03-'04 top onto a '97-'02 car. Pictures too. To make it easy. Easiest fix possible per Maurice who wrote it up and has done several. 2 people or a hoist needed just to deal with the bulk of the top to make sure there are no scratches on the body. The challenge is finding the later top. But since you are going to remove the top soon anyway, why not go wiby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum

You could also source a 03-04 top planning on selling it when you remove it permanently. And plastic window tops off wrecks should be in low demand. perfect target for such a car. Not cost constrained. A frequent early adapter. Lots of car buys in their first year of production. Foreign cars before they were popular in the US. Net'ed before the internet. Home computer before the PC. First user of voicemail in the company. etc. But it has to make sense. that the E will suffer from the same problem all the innovative battery charging dependent cars have. Is there sufficient infrastructure in place when the buyer is choosing to support reasonable use of the cars. I'm not talking about home to the train station commuting but trips like we normally take in the US not every day but frequently enough. tires were in the '30s and '40s and yet people drove in the snow on them. They had a lot less tread depth and even sometimes no tread at all. Wheel width on a Model A was 3" IIRC.by mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
Is maybe the dealer telling you correctly but not completely, that the Porsche dealer does sell cars with a third party extra cost warranty. What they maybe don't go on to say is that, for the good cars the Porsche dealer gets, they pay Porsche for the CPO and have to put those cars through a rigorous multi-hour inspection to qualify them for the CPO program. They also have to fix anything thatby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
Read two reviews. One focused on sound and said good. Other on road performance and was also good. And steering was praised also in both. So beauty is in the eye ... Wait till YOU can drive one.by mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
The fans have them already, and folks who remember them fondly are aging so the nostalgia market is reduced. Kids today aren't into cars as much. Since the IMS is so easily remedied (albeit with $$$$) and the number of wrecks will provide parts for those who want to keep them forever, I don't anticipate enough of a decrease in those available to make them rare. Now a ban in Italy. And Germany has told VW they have until Oct 7th to prove compliance or type approval will be withdrawn. Bosch now said to have given the get-around software to VW with specific warning to use only in internal tests and not on any shipping vehicle. VW management was warned in 2011 about the use of the flawed software. Even a copy is circulating. UK sources are quoting Germby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum

and he loves it. Says on the highway it gets better MPG than my Prius v (mine 41.9 average over 25k miles, mine probably 45 at around 65MPH) but with lots pricier fuel than my current $1.999 stuff. The concerns I read about are potential impact of the fix on resale value, MPG, torque and longevity. All really unknowns. What will be the acceleration and the MPGs? I think they will be unfavorably different than was advertised (why else would they have turned off the pollution controls) when originally sold and then private lawsuits and class actions will cause mounting civil settlement costs and legal expenses. VW/Audi has admitted to using software which detects when emissions testing is occurring and thus turning on all the emissions controls. In normal mode, all that stuff is off for 4-cyl diesels from 2009-date. The result is up to 40 times the amount of emissions they claimed. They may be liable for penalties of up to $37k per vehicle ($18 and there may be criminal prosecutions. Apparently, the EPby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
I'd consider these as possible causes: 1. Parts dimensional variability (All are not created equal) 2. Mounting alignment variability (All blocks are not created equally) 3. Neglect (but who will admit that) 4. Porsche dictated oil change intervals (combined with winter hibernation and short length trips in winter) leading to oil contamination 5. Installation variability 6. Random aspects of anyby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
