2007 Boxster S, 48,000 miles. Area of issue is in the large dashboard circle showing RPMs. In particular the area at the bottom where the digital speed is shown along with other info such as tpms, mpg etc. There is a random pattern of squiggles arising from the bottom of the gauge upwards and increases in size not while I am driving but has grown upwards the next time I get in to drive. Anyone haby oldhoo07s - Main Forum
Absolutely not! This board is live and well. Thank you Pedro for all this board provides.by oldhoo07s - Main Forum
This past weekend I used the Durametric to check again for fault codes and found none. Waiting for the replacement sensor, I drove the car numerous times to try and replicate the difficult start when hot. Did not happen once. Not going to try and fix it if it ain't broke and will continue to drive.by oldhoo07s - Main Forum
Thanks Pedro and Boxsterra. I have ordered the sensor and a new bolt online (OEM Bosch p/n 0261210248 which is the exact same description of the sensor on the car, price of $30.50, while the Genuine Porsche part is $200.00 plus - go figure) and it should come early next week and I'll give it a go. Boxsterra, I have had the car for 10 years and still think it is new, at least not old (as I "think"by oldhoo07s - Main Forum
Thanks Boxsterra and Marc. Last night I checked for fault codes with the Durametric and there were no fault codes. I raised the car, removed the wheel and located the sensor and found that both connections seemed to be tight. I did not loosen the connections and clean because of limited access from below on the electrical connection. Anyway, I have ordered a new sensor but am a little concerned aby oldhoo07s - Main Forum
Marc, thanks for your input. There is no CEL. I have not checked for error codes - I will check this weekend when I will have opportunity to do so, I have a Durameteric (not pro). I will also check the sensor to see if there are any loose connections. But I ask that anyone who can, please add to my limited knowledge as how to best access the sensor with no lift - passenger side, remove rear wheelby oldhoo07s - Main Forum
I am experiencing similar symptoms as MarknearChicago in my 2007S Boxster with 36K miles. Always starts fine when cold. But when road temperature hot and after being off for 5 to 10 minutes the engine will crank, will fire what seems to be once or twice but then cuts off. After 3 or 4 attempts like this the engine starts up and runs fine with no issues. Could this be a crank position sensor problby oldhoo07s - Main Forum
Grant, do you consider your pressure - 33R/31F - to be optimal for handling or for wear/milage or both?by oldhoo07s - Main Forum
I have an extra one of these oil filter canisters that I alternate when changing the oil so i can clean and inspect at leisure when I have plenty of time. The round raised section with the rivet in the center at the bottom is stationary, does not move and seems to just be a receiver section for the filter to fit into.by oldhoo07s - Main Forum
Can a distinction be made between the failure rate of the IMS in the M96 engine and the M97 engine? I am curious because I have the M97, in a 2007 Boxster S.by oldhoo07s - Main Forum

Boxsterra, will you explain a "sulfated" battery. What are its symptoms, what causes it and how do you "fix" it?by oldhoo07s - Main Forum

Thanks BoxsterBob for the input. The link info was what I wanted to see. Just curious as to where you found the part for approx $100.00. I see on Pelican Parts the Porsche OEM part for $238.00.by oldhoo07s - Main Forum
MarcW and Pedro, thanks for the advise. FWIW when I got home from work yesterday I cleared the P0335 fault code and went for a 20-minute ride and the code did not come back. So, I will drive it and see what happens from here. If the code comes back I guess I will be proactive & take it to the dealer since the part is OEM Porsche. If the fault code comes back but the car shows no problems, whaby oldhoo07s - Main Forum
Pedro, can you tell me where the sensor is located and the best way to get to it? Also, is it something I can purchase from a parts source and replace (limited mechanical ability) myself?by oldhoo07s - Main Forum
Hey MarcW, thanks for the input. Pretty sure the CEL bulb is good. I will clear the code, drive the car and see what happens.by oldhoo07s - Main Forum
I recently purchased the Durametric tool. Yesterday while learning how to use the instrument and looking at the various areas of the car on which it gives information, I got the following Fault Code: P0335 Crankshaft Sensor. Can anyone explain what this means? Do I have an impending problem? There is no CEL or other indication of a problem. The car starts and runs fine with absolutely no issues. Cby oldhoo07s - Main Forum
In checking the front radiator fans, I actually got out of the car with the engine running at operating temperature with A/C on high and went to each radiator in front. I could feel the air and hear the noise from the right radiator fan. There was no noise and no wind from the left side fan. Does this indicate a problem with the left fan? Is there a separate fuse for this fan?by oldhoo07s - Main Forum
I have a question after seeing Pedro's comment above:"Turn on the A/C and make sure that each side is working on high." I tried this but only the right front fan comes on. Does this mean I have a problem with the left front fan? If one fan comes on should they both be on? I have never paid much attention to whether the radiator fans were working or not. I have heard them/it run but never noticedby oldhoo07s - Main Forum
Another question on TPMS. I also have a 2007 and all four sensors work fine. However I am getting close to needing two new rear tires, but the fronts still have good tread. When getting two new rear tires should I have the rear TPMS sensors replaced at that time and do nothing on the fronts for now?by oldhoo07s - Main Forum
Thanks for your thoughts Marc.To answer your questions: no oil or coolant consumption ever; no water and no environmental changes - car stays in attached garage where I have never seen a rodent; the car is driven at least once weekly for 75+ miles and had new fill up of gas the last time driven at same busy Shell station I use when possible; I also suspect a coil. Started my 2007 Boxster S ~16,000mi for a sunny day, top down drive on Saturday. Upon engine starting up, check engine light is flashing and the engine is running quite rough. This goes on for what I guess to be 15-20 seconds, then engine began to run normally and the CEL went off completely. I never turned the engine off, went for 60 mile trip with a few stops and engine runs great as usual.Thisby oldhoo07s - Main Forum
