QuoteRoger987 About that trunk - on your 'multi-1000 mile' trips, with your luggage packed in, were you able to put the roof down? Yes, but you had to be judicious about packing. We traveled with two long, narrow-ish suitcases (L.L. Bean), a daypack, two pairs of hiking boots and two pairs of (collapsible) hiking sticks. Light or flat stuff (GoreTex rain shells, maps) could go on top of the bags.by SciGuy in MI - Main Forum
Had an '05 SLK350 with 6MT. Special-ordered it, as finding one with a manual transmission was essentially impossible. As already noted, a completely different flavor than the Boxster but a very comfortable tourer. The folding hardtop made it nearly as quiet and comfortable for long-distance travel as a fixed-roof vehicle. My wife and I did several multi-1000 mile trips in it, and other shorter trby SciGuy in MI - Main Forum
Winterkorn's gone now:by SciGuy in MI - Main Forum
My amaranth red '14 Boxster S looks very much like the one in the photo you attached (with the exceptions that mine has a brown roof and Boxster S wheels). Amaranth is a brownish shade of red, almost like terracotta. I could tell you that it's very striking, but color is entirely subjective. I *can* tell you that it garners a great deal of positive attention.by SciGuy in MI - Main Forum

Quotemikefocke, '01S Sanford, NCI bought a 4wd CRV just to have an alternative to the Boxster in the snow... We just replaced our '06 CR-V (AWD) with a '15 version, for the same reason. Immediately slapped on a new set of winter wheels/tires and we're good to go for any weather we have any business being out in. Worse than that and we'll stay home.by SciGuy in MI - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario QuoteSciGuy My dealer's only about five miles from home, but I suppose I could double that by driving around all the potholes here. ...hmmmmm. It appears you're an inexperienced Porsche home bringer. My dealer is 60 miles away. It only took me 150 miles to bring it home. You want to at least be able to get the engine properly warmed up on its first drive. You do knoby SciGuy in MI - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario Expect the ship to make a stop or two along the way. Once it gets out past the UK, it will disappear for 5 or 6 days. Then reappear around Newfoundland. Exciting times for you, for sure. Got a good route planned to take your new 981 the long way home? My dealer's only about five miles from home, but I suppose I could double that by driving around all the potholes here.by SciGuy in MI - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario ...soooo the excitement builds. You'll be getting it at perfect time of year to be able to enjoy it for the spring and summer. Are you tracking the ship on Marine Traffic? Hope you're not as obsessed as one person who shall go unnamed (right Joanne?), who even stalked the ship her car was on as it was going through the Panama Canal. Yep, been checking that very websitby SciGuy in MI - Main Forum
I got word today that my new Boxster S has *finally* been put on a boat (Florida Highway) and is on its way to the States. This, after sitting at the dock in Emden, Germany for the past two weeks following completion of production. It's supposed to arrive in Davisville, RI April 18, so maybe it'll reach my dealer (MI) about two weeks from now. Can't wait! One silver lining to all the waitingby SciGuy in MI - Main Forum

QuoteGuenter in Ontario ...When does the dealer expect to get your car in? Is it on a ship already so you can track it? It's scheduled to be built in March, with the dealer expecting delivery in April. We just received a "comm #" (??) and copy of the build sheet today.by SciGuy in MI - Main Forum

Just a word to say hello from a newly-registered member (but long-time lurker), after recently placing an order for a Boxster S. I've visited this board occasionally over the years, prior to and throughout ownership of another German sports car. I'm glad to be here now as a (nearly) fully-qualified member. Oh, and the car is expected to be here just in time for top-down motoring.by SciGuy in MI - Main Forum
