I saw some pictures in a different article from additional angles. The front and rear pieces are from the GTS. In my opinion this is an improvement and the best looking car Porsche makes. The color of this particular example is highly questionable.... For most folks 300 HP is plenty (5 more than my 987S) and this car would probably be popular if offered in the US. It is probably representatiby KeithF - Main Forum
The 6 month wait is rough and will possibly carry over into a model year change. Bummer to receive delivery of a 2021 model when others are receiving or about to receive 2022's. I placed my order for a 2020 GTS in July 2020 and received a 2021 model in mid-November.by KeithF - Main Forum
IMO, a quality issue like this is not surprising and does not mean Porsche quality has become shoddy. I run a machining/manufacturing company. Modern manufacturing is a perfectly orchestrated series of just-in-time events. COVID has screwed this delicate clockwork. Material shortages, working remotely, supply chain problems, employees with positive tests, mandatory 2-week quarantines, etc. caby KeithF - Main Forum
Not sure how solid my information is but I'm hearing that cars delivered to customer (about 20 cars) will get new engines. The other 170 cars will get new connecting rods installed by dealer or in port. These numbers are for North America. I think the world wide total of affected cars is about 800. Allocations for the 4.0 liter cars have been hard to get and dealer inventory is near zero. Thby KeithF - Main Forum
Guenter - The new car is vastly superior. Handling is other worldly. That doesn’t always mean it’s more fun but is a lot faster. I continue to enjoy the direct and analog feel of the 987S. The level of tech is fairly low so I know I’m the one doing the driving. In comparison, the 718 4.0 has to be driven a good bit faster on a given road to generate the same thrill factor. Just posted in the other thread. I dodged the bullet. My car was built 2-3 months before the cars with defective connecting rods. I was sweating it out for a week or two til they finally published VIN #'s.by KeithF - Main Forum
My GTS4.0 was built in Oct 2020 so I missed the problem window by a couple of months. Sucks for folks with affected cars. If a large number of buyers walk away from their orders and go with new allocations, I presume the affected cars would go into dealer inventories. Not sure Porsche would have an obligation to disclose the connecting rod fix on those cars since the cars were never deliveredby KeithF - Main Forum
So sorry to hear about your car. I really enjoyed watching watching your car in my mirror during the BRBS drives. Cool seeing the shower of sparks from the underside of your car every time there was a bump in the road. It was lowered about 2" right? I challenge you to get another Boxster and shoot for 351k...by KeithF - Main Forum
I have the same shifter/handbrake in my 987. Looks great but gets blazing hot in the summer. I'm sure my black interior is a contributing factor. I actually keep a pair of old driving gloves in the car and sometimes have to put the right glove on for the first minute or two if the car's been parked in the sun. Only a problem when the top is CLOSED and parked in the sun. Oddly, the shifter doby KeithF - Main Forum
It looks like added grills to protect the radiators since I last saw your car. Buy or make? They look good. I want to do something for my car.by KeithF - Main Forum
Interestingly the PCCBs were discontinued on the GTS 4.0 after the initial North American build in October. Not sure why but thinking: 1. Supplier problem and they'll return as an option later 2. Transitioning to the slightly larger PCCBs on the GT4/Spyder 3. Switching to the new carbide coated rotors I've heard about 4. None of the above... I'm hurrying.... 300 miles and counting. Honoring the break in doesn't mean I can't take a curve fast. Spent some time on familiar rural roads today taking turns at a speeds that are very interesting in the 987S. Those speeds were pretty boring in the GTS 4.0. This car has some high limits. I'll keep pushing it til it get interesting (but not too interesting...)by KeithF - Main Forum
That is a beautiful car. I really wanted the Spyder but just couldn't make peace with the manual top. My first Boxster was a 986S and I added the Speedster Humps which take several minutes to remove. Got caught several times in the rain. Best technique was to drive really fast letting the slipstream carry the rain over the cockpit then hit the garage door opener early so I could enter withoutby KeithF - Main Forum

Perfect food based nickname for your car. Guess I'll go with "Spoiled Mayonnaise" for mine...by KeithF - Main Forum

Picked it up from the dealer a couple of days ago. Ordered in July and got in the first build for the North American market. Chalk, 6-speed, LWBS, PCCB, LEDs, etc. Rev matching is awesome! Breaking it in so I can only give limited feedback on the engine and exhaust but I can tell there's a beast of a motor behind the seat. Just using my big toe on the accelerator.
