We stayed for the past two years at the big lynn down the road. It's like sleeping in the extra room at your grandmothers house HaHa - that's a good way to describe it! However, does have some pretty awesome views - much better than Grandma's!by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Just registered as well!by Mark from SC - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit 2013 (No. 15)
Well, with the warm weather just around the corner, I finally got around to fixing this. Based on the recommendations, I purchased some new drive cables, and went to work. As suspected, the Driver Side cable was broken (sheered off the 'connection' - it was still stuck in the motor area). So, it was just 'spinning', without doing anything. Really wasn't too bad a job to replace it all. With aby Mark from SC - Main Forum

Happy New Year everybody! Thanks Pedro for all you do for this community!by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Sorry Pedro for the rough year! Next year has to get better. Keep us posted on recovery - you and the car!by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Wow - thanks guys for the detailed information. I'm going to look at this when I get back into town and see if I can figure out what is going on. Once it happened, I just stopped, and left everything, as I was leaving town soon. As always, some very valuable and detailed information. I'll update when I have more details. I started a recent conversation with 'Honey, I'm thinking about my next car being 'Old American Muscle', what do you think?'. She said 'NOOOO....Not an old car!'. So, we went back and forth for a while, telling her my thoughts on the old muscle cars, etc. Finally, I said, 'Ok, well, how about a Porsche, Twin Turbo...'. She said 'YES, YES, much better'. We then went on 'arguing' (discussinby Mark from SC - Main Forum
We do have a lot to be thankful for. Thank you guys for this board, and keeping us informed on everything Porsche. What a great group of people willing to help others.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
I know I've heard about others having this particular issue, and so I thought I would check here, to see if anybody had some suggestions on how to proceed. Basically, I went to close my top this morning (it had been left open, in the garage, for a few days), and I noticed things weren't right, as I tried to close it. I then tried to open it back slightly, and am currently in this particular posiby Mark from SC - Main Forum
I bought this one, used however. I think he has been going through some medical issues, and hasn't been selling them lately, but I haven't checked. May want to send him an email. Very similar to what Pedro shows. I have mine, but haven't done the 'install work' yet. Got to do that this winter, to get ready for track season next year! Now, if you could have also gotten that "mpg" to show 100.... Congrats! Come to think of it, why is that showing MPG, instead of Kilometers per Gallon, or Liter, or something?by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Of course, my wife won't be able to drive it. That's the key!by Mark from SC - Main Forum
- 8 months agoDefinitely - should have the parts back this week, so will be putting it back together. Will definitely get it back out. If you've been at BRBS in recent years, which I believe you have, you've probably seen it. It is the 'all black' lowered one...by Mark from SC - Main Forum
- 8 months agoGood seeing the CURVN8R at C&C this morning. Beautiful Car! Makes me start thinking about doing an 'upgrade' myself. Glad you brought it out to Greenville though! Markby Mark from SC - Main Forum
I usually go to that event, but didn't make it this past weekend. Heard they had 192 cars - new record. Hate I missed the 981s.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
I think he's had it running for a while now, and it is his 'weekend warrior' that he uses at the track! Good luck tracking it down!by Mark from SC - Main Forum
I can send money for the shipping to and from, of course. if there is a fee associated with the borrow: no problem. let me know No Fee - Send me an email at 'messex at netalytics dot com' Markby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Is there an active group of PCA members or a Boxster group in your area? Sorry to hijack the thread. AKL Definitely an active PCA Group - just had a meeting last night at the Quaker Steak and Lube. Was a little less people last night, because of the rain, but still probably 40+ there. They definitely try to do multiple drive events as well as several in the group do PCA HPDE eventsby Mark from SC - Main Forum
anyone in the atlanta or north georgia area have a Durametric they would be willing to time share or allow me to use? Let me know I am sure we could work out something. I do hw and sw for a large consulting firm. Take care! How long do you need it? I'm in Greer, SC, just up I-85.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
BTW, I don't think this is fully accurate. I think the cable controls whether or not it is Professional versus Enthusiast. You install the same version of the software. Also, you can purchase the Professional WITHOUT the 50ft cable, and it is cheaper, but still a lot more. If you don't think you will need this on multiple cars, enthusiast should be fine, unless you want the coding (see below).by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Mark: There is a guy on 986forum who devised a way to repair the slackening of the cable in the window regulator by installing a bicyle brake adjuster mechanism in place of the plastic piece to take up the slack. IIRC, a year later he said it was still working like new. If I find the link, I'll post it here. Regards, Maurice. Thanks Maurice. If you find the link, please do post iby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Thanks Marc, In all likelihood, I'll have somebody else work on it - I don't like to start a project, and not be able to either find the time (or knowledge) to get it done! I'll try the reset and see if that 'helps', but I suspect that won't do it. Markby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Thanks guys for the information. I'll try the Window Limit reset, and see if that helps. The window 'partially' drops - just not the full amount, so maybe that will help. If I have to replace the hardware, any thoughts on how difficult a job that is? I'm fairly mechanical, but just wondering. Some door panels are easy - others are not...by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Just started happening. When I open the driver side door, the window only drops part way down, and sometimes gets 'caught' on the roof when you open the door. If I pop the top latch, it drops correctly, but the door drop isn't right. Any thoughts on what I might need to check/change to fix that? Thanks, Markby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Hey - I was there too!! Dang that's a mean looking black Boxster S you've got there Mark!! Loved seeing Miss SC again! Well, they told me the detail guys were going to 'wipe it down' before the event, so I didn't get out the old 'speed shine' on it. Oh well. Your car cleaned up AMAZINGLY well. If you hadn't kept your 'racing numbers' on it, I wouldn't have recognized it! Always gooby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about - I didn't take a picture, but the rest of the car looked great - just thought the top, in the open position, looked 'undone'. Other than that, I thought it was nice.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
I was there last night as well - very nice cars. The only thing I didn't really care for on the car was the way the top is when opened. There are big 'gaps' on each side. Just doesn't look 'fit and finished', IMHO. Overall, a great upgrade though. I saw an all blacked-out 2012 S in the parking lot, with the same price tag as the Black S inside. Didn't compare options, but something tells meby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Great write-up. Sorry we didn't get to meet, but I too had a great time at my third BRBS. Hope to see you next year.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
