"most comfortable jeans is apt" This car just fits right.by scott in pa - Main Forum
One ironic bit: My original car went to from PA to MD, SC and then NJ where my friend David aquired it and turned it into a SPB. Now it sits right next to me in the paddock.by scott in pa - Main Forum
I haven't been around for quite a while but I've been waxing a little nostalgic lately. I've been driving Boxsters continuously for almost twenty tears now. First my 99 triple black sport design Boxster that I swapped a 3.4L into when the warranty ran out. In 2005 I moved from PA to FL and over time, that car got converted to a street/track car and then eventually to a track only car. In 2010by scott in pa - Main Forum
Hi Trygve, Rumor has it that there is going to be a six hour enduro at the High Plains race next year. I'm thinking about taking my SPB and a couple of teammates. I know it's a haul for you but you are closer then I am. :-)by scott in pa - Main Forum
The link doesn't work anymore. Are the archives still around anywhere?by scott in pa - Main Forum
I already have a sign that says TC OFF! I still forget. It could be turned off in the ECU but Das ist Verboten so I just want a circuit that turns it off when the car starts. I guess I'll have to build it myself.by scott in pa - Main Forum
and then the car was totally destroyed in the Porsche corners. Somewhat ironic and amazing that Duval walked away.by scott in pa - Main Forum
I'm really tired of forgetting to turn the damn thing off on the track. Has anybody produced a circuit that will send a signal to turn it off on start up? Should be simple.by scott in pa - Main Forum
Got that. I still forget sometimes, usually when I turn the car off on the grid because of a prolonged delay. Not really a problem for practice because you notice it as soon as you're up to speed but I forgot in a race once and it cost me a position. It would really be nice to be able to just disable it.by scott in pa - Main Forum
Does anyone have a hack to permanently disable traction control? I need to hit the button every time I hit the track in my spec Boxster (986) and sometimes I forget until it starts kicking in.by scott in pa - Main Forum
While waiting for my scope, I disassembled one of the other plugs yesterday. I'm not really worried about the ceramic but that's a big chunk of nickel and it is indeed magnetic. I guess I wasn't paying attention that day in Chemistry.by scott in pa - Main Forum
Thanks Marc, Yes, I know, I should have cleaned out the vac before I started. I had a short window of free time and curiosity won out over common sense. The engine was just rebuilt last year at considerable cost so I want to proceed carefully.. I ordered a relatively cheap boroscope, should be here by Monday. Had to drop out of the Lime Rock race this weekend because of this and time constraby scott in pa - Main Forum
I pulled the 99 spec Boxster out of hibernation a couple of weeks ago for a day of testing at Lime Rock. The car was missing badly and the fault codes said a misfire on #1. I suspected the coil pack and I didn't have any spares so I packed up and went home. Since I was changing one, I decided to change all the packs and do plugs and tubes while I was at it. I'm glad I did because the plug inby scott in pa - Main Forum
I see conflicting information. Sir Tools says that the B90-p is just for rear wheel bearings but some say it works for front. What is really needed? Thanks.by scott in pa - Main Forum
Sure it will. Mine did. If you don't use the 3.4 intake you don't get the resonance chamber. You do have to hang the engine 1" lower on the front mount with spacers to get the cover on but that's no big deal.by scott in pa - Main Forum
It will run when the key is turned to the start position and the car is not running but not when the car is running. Ignition switch?by scott in pa - Main Forum
I've been back (West Chester) for a couple of years. Too damn hot down there to stay full time.by scott in pa - Main Forum
Hey Guys, Can't make this one. I'll be driving back from the VIR club race with my Spec Boxster in the trailer sometime Sunday. The black 3.4L 986 has gone to another home. With a 2.7 in it. The engine blew (AOS went out) at Sebring in March after ten years and ~80k track miles. Next Time. Scottby scott in pa - Main Forum
Yes, I kind of remember that being an issue since they were backwards but it's been a long time.by scott in pa - Main Forum
Thanks Marc, Yes, I'm glad that I just started it and shut it off and didn't take it for a spin as I usually do or I might have had a Boxster flambe. The swap was eight years ago so I think it was more likely fatigue then a connection problem. The connection to the rails was my first thought but I thought I would check to see if others have had similar problems. It has stopped actively leakinby scott in pa - Main Forum
I started up the 986 track car for the first time in a month or so yesterday. It ran fine but after I shut it off it started dumping fuel. It's running down the block and coming out near the oil plate. It has a 3.4 but all the parts are pretty much the same. What's the first thing to check? Fuel rails? Anybody had similar problems?by scott in pa - Main Forum
