My dog Cayman loved riding in the Boxster!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I came across this site and as a former owner of a '72 914, I couldn't help but share it. I hope you enjoy, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! A few things to know before you steal my 914by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

Yes, I talked to Nello and he had a coder on hand that he overnighted to me and now I can look forward to go backwards. Nello and Maxspeed have been great to work with!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I must have seen that commercial a dozen times and thought to myself, "That guy looks just like Pedro!" Holy cow, you're a star!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Boxster Sunrise! (sailors take warning)by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I made an appointment at my local mechanic that had a PIWIS II unit, and provided the minimal instructions given by Max-Speed: Scan The Car > Select PCM > Rear View Camera > Check the box > hit F12. The mechanic tried a few times but was not able to get the PCM to recognize the camera. I contacted Max-Speed and I'm waiting to hear back on an ETA for their coding tool.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Thanks! I'm going to see if my independent Porsche mechanic has the PIWIS scanner, otherwise I'll check my dealer and last resort, get on the waiting list for the max-speed tool. I have it installed, just can't use it yet. Bobby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Hey JG, I just installed the same kit today in my '14S. So far everything went great, but when my wife ordered it for Christmas, she didn't rent the PMC reprogramming tool. Did you use their tool or have another option? I'm going to talk to my dealer to see if he will do it, otherwise I'll probably have MaxSpeed send their tool and pay the $69. Cheers! Joanie & I were up in Tahoe a few times last summer. We're visiting some friends in Pioneer on the 15th.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Congratulations! I made a similar move, '99 986 -> '14 981S. I agree with everything you said!!! Enjoy! Bobby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
My service rep is a good guy, he does mention, "the survey" at least 5 times at drop off and pick up. It's a binary option (on/off) so you would think a tech could change the setting. I will definitely bring it up at my next visit.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I was hoping just to bend over pin #19 or #20. No such luck. Thanks, Pedro.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
My '99 986 had the passenger side mirror dip feature when putting the car in reverse and I was surprised to see my '14 981 did not carry on that tradition. I've since learned the mirror dip is tied to the Seat Memory option, which my current car does not have. I checked the Vehicle > Settings > Lights & Visibility Menu and Reverse Options is not there. Is there a hack to turn that opby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Congratulations. Doug! Looks like she just rolled out of the show room!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I spent some time restoring my '72 914 before I gave up and bought my first Boxster, so I can appreciate this accomplishment. I replaced my ignition switch a few years back and the biggest problem I had was finding a screw driver that was short enough to get in the space where my hand & wrist could exert enough pressure and torque to remove the small set screw. I took the flat head bit from the screw driver below, drilled a hole in a golf ball and glued the bit in the hole. You may be able to find a ready made tool,by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
He is credited for saving the 911 shortly after being hired as CEO... “You have to understand that, in Germany, once a decision is made, it’s made. As far as the company was concerned, the 911 was history. But I overturned the board’s decision in my third week on the job. I remember the day quite well: I went down to the office of our lead engineer, Professor Helmuth Bott, to discuss planby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

I traded in my '99 with 140k miles and picked up a '14 S with 10k miles. Lovin' every minute!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I had Trygve's Top on my car for a while. I put a new aftermarket canvas on the frame and eventually traded it in. I'm sure many of those donor parts are still on the road!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I joined in 2002 when I bought my '99. I logged over 140,000 miles in 14 years thanks to the advice given and friends made on PPBB and Pedro's Board. Last year I traded her in on a '14 Boxster S and have enjoyed every minute! I don't spend as much time here anymore, but it's refreshing to see several folks that were here 15 years ago and more. Cheers to Chuck and many thanks to Pedro for continuiby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I pulled into my doctor's office garage and parked where I normally do. Today was above and beyond.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Thanks for the well wishes. It was tough letting her go, but as reliable as she's been, the frequency of minor issues was climbing. The clutch slave recently failed and brake light switch failed, I replaced them both, but I also started seeing CEL codes for the variocam sensor which is a $700 part and requires the cam cover to come off... stretching my DIY skills and $$$. In August of 2001, I decided to put my ’72 914 restoration on hold a buy a ’99 Boxster with 12,000 miles and it has been an amazing run! 15 years and 127,000 miles later, I decide it was time for another change. My 1999 Boxster was without a doubt, the best car I’ve ever owned. Since it went out of warranty in 2003, it has been to a mechanic once because I couldn’t perform the contortionby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
"DieHard" makes sense as a brand name for a battery, not so much for a tire? How about, "FlatHard" or "BaldHard"... never mind.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Hey Tony, it's been a while since we talked. Are you still selling houses? I have no problem getting the slave in place and the bolt tightened, the first time was tricky, but after the 4th time, I could do it without looking. Steve over on 986Forum.com suggested I try manual bleeding as opposed to using the Motive to see if I got different results.
