Pedro: So it's risky, eh? Okay, guess I should look around for estimates and get it done by a professional. Thanks for the advice. Stay well. babamotoby babamoto - Main Forum

Hey, guys (and women if you are one): Hope y'all are well. QUESTION: Do you guys DIY the recharging of the air conditioners in your 986/7s or do you let a AC shop or dealer handle it? We're having record high temps in Southern California and I thought it might be a good idea to charge the AC. Do these bottles of compressed refrigerant they sell at auto parts store work well? Hello, everyone!!! I have been trying to run Google maps on my phone while while driving my Boxster by way of a USB adapter plugged into the cigarette lighter. I have a drawer full of these adapters laying around in a drawer now. They won't stay plugged in. The lighter receptacle seems too shallow. Have you guys (or girls if you are one) found the perfect USB charger adapter to use in your 986? Pby babamoto - Main Forum

Pedro: You're right. Most of the 986s I see have at least a bit of discoloration near the top of the lenses. Do you know if there's a way to clean 'em up, short of cooking the whole magilla to get the clear plastic off? Don't those LEDs look good though? bababy babamoto - Main Forum
Whoa... Hey, frogster< I remember your nick from years ago. Good to hear for you. And thanks for the info. Imma put those suckers in now. I mean, right now. See ya on the other side. bababy babamoto - Main Forum
Pedro: Yeah, I've been researching LED headlights, but haven't yet found any at the right price point. Please tell me if you find LED bulbs compatible with Boxster halogen set ups. LEDs seem like the way to go. There are a couple of guys who mod Boxster headlight to LED projectors... Jimmyworks, Nine8Six and particlewave to name a few. I'm intrigued by the workmanship that goes into their LED reby babamoto - Main Forum
Yo, Everybody: One recent evening sitting around in my darkened garage, I noticed that my low beams were almost nonexistent. High beams seemed fine. Fog lights... fine. I dilly-dallied around a while, then scored on some Sylvania Silverstar H7, 12.8V / 55W Halogen bulbs. Now, these aren't the Silverstar Ultras or the Silverstar Xtrras, just the plain old Silverstars. Will I end up with scorchby babamoto - Main Forum
Alrighty, thanks for the data and the common sense. I ain't gonna mess with E85, at least in the Porsche. Thank you, Marc and Grant for your thoughtful and informed responses. I really appreciate it. Do any of you guys, or ladies if you are one, use E85 (ethanol/pump gas mix) in your Boxsters or other Porsches (maybe GT3s)? Does it damage Porsche engines? A neighbor kid says the only difference he's noticed is that his Nismo GTR engine takes a couple of extra tries in the morning to turn over. Hm. Babamoto Los Angelesby babamoto - Main Forum

Friends, If you live in Southern California or going to be near Los Angeles on Sunday, April 10, you might want to check out this Porsche festival focusing on air-cooled machines. The actual location of this year's event, however, still hasn't been revealed. Only thing the organizers are saying is that it will be somewhere in "downtown Los Angeles." Friends: Hi, it's been a long while since I last posted. I've been a little down since the holidays when by MY2000 Boxster 2.7 started smoking from the right-rear wheel well. Car is still gleaming black, responsive and quick as heck. But, I think, it was the day after Christmas, I noticed smoke outta the corner of my eye at a stoplight and thought it was coming from the intake vent. Hmph. Whenby babamoto - Main Forum
