I find this funny. The dealer call today after a brief road test and they confirmed the whistle. Ironic how they immediately knew the fix, to take the mirror off and lay a bead of silicone on the joint which will eliminate the whistle (which is what I told them the fix was after asking the question on here and other Pcar sites). Best part...the dealer broke the glass mirror and needed to orderby SeaNile - Main Forum
I thought since this whistle was such as well known issue the dealers were fixing this as it is a known design flaw.by SeaNile - Main Forum
So the whistle from the side view mirrors is a well known documented issue on the 05 Boxster cars. Seems like it is due to the seam in the mirror which can be caulked or the mirror can be removed and fixed from within. Again, a well known issue usually fixed by the dealer (while under warranty) for no charge. I drop off my 05 S last night and speak to the service manager this am. He says he iby SeaNile - Main Forum
I never found eBay to be a great site for car shopping. Cars.com, autotrader.com, rennlist and here have been much better for car shopping. Occasionally craigslist too will show a decent car. Can't for get the official Porsche site too.by SeaNile - Main Forum
Thanks for the info. I really wonder what the dealer will do since I did not buy the car from them. So far so good on the 80 miles on the car so far. Just the whistle and when it checks the oil in the beginning of the start up cycle is says it is low. Other than that the car has been fun. One thing, and a completely unfair comparison is this 987 S is so tame and "soft" coming from my Ferrariby SeaNile - Main Forum
I'll cal the dealer on Tuesday and see if they offer a fix. If not I will probably caulk the inner 1/3 of the seam on the mirror. That seems to be a quick and easy fix from what I've read.by SeaNile - Main Forum
Finally, after over a month of being in the garage due to weather, got the car out today with the top down today. A nice surprise in mid Feb in the Philly area for sure. A few observations compared to my two previous 986 cars. First, the 987 feels a bit bigger, more stable and slightly more refined. I love the car so far and was very surprised at how quiet is is driving with the top up, it alby SeaNile - Main Forum
Quotecweldon978 John, You probably meant that last part for me. Where does the "West Chester Cars and Coffee" group meet? Regards, Chip Chip, I did mean to reply to you... The C&C as they call it meets on every Saturday am around 8-9 and often goes till after 10 with a drive to follow. Most of the talk about this is on www.ferrarichat.com in the mid atlantic section. it's not hard to fiby SeaNile - Main Forum
QuoteMarcW round I would not be surprised. Sorry, but I can't make any recommendation for an indy shop to which you can take your car. I still take my out of warranty cars to a nearby dealer for service and repair. In my area the indy shops charge about the same as the dealer. But I trust the techs at the dealership(s) where I take my cars and the dealers offer much better waiting room and shuby SeaNile - Main Forum
About 7pm it should be here. The roads are still covered with salt and more snow is on the way tonight. I doubt the car will be driven anytime soon.by SeaNile - Main Forum
I guess the delivery at this point is all up the the weather and the impending snowstorm. Even if the car came tonight, the roads are so salty and dirty I wouldn't take the car out for a while anyway. It'll be fun to sit it in while in the garage!by SeaNile - Main Forum
This one should be a great car me for. This car, other than the adaptive seats (is that what they are called?) and the 19" wheels, is exactly like the one I had this time last year. Blk/Blk with all the same options. Talk about boring....this will be my 4th Blk/Blk color combo!by SeaNile - Main Forum
Bank slowed down the process. Thought it would be loaded on the truck and I would have it Sunday but thanks to the clearing process I won't be able to wire the $$ till Tuesday or even Wednesday. If the transport goes well I should have the car late next week, With this Philadelphia weather I won't be driving the car for a while. I'll be looking for a nice car cover. Here is a link to the carby SeaNile - Main Forum
had an 05 S with 30K miles, red/blk 6sp advertised for $24985.by SeaNile - Main Forum
Usual options....Bose, heated seats, Xenon, colored crests, PCM w/o pasm. PPI showed like new tires and 70% brakes left and recent oil change. Hopefully this car is trouble free for many miles to come.by SeaNile - Main Forum
Pcar dealer who did the PPI said the car is flawless, shows no sign of damage, is well cared for and shows like brand new. If the timing works out the car will be picked up Saturday and I should receive it late Saturday afternoon. Glad to own another Boxster S!!by SeaNile - Main Forum
So I have offers in on two different 987 cars. Here are the details. 05 S (same car mentioned in this mega long thread), 20K miles, bose, xenon, heated seats, colored crests and an original msrp of $58K. Car has new tires and we are at $26,900. I offered 25K, it is at a non-Pcar dealer and the car was taken in on trade. 06 S, 10K miles, tracked 4x for a total of 150 miles, bose, heated seatsby SeaNile - Main Forum
I've always had PPI's done on all but one car I purchased. My latest interest, an 06 S with under 10K miles, would also get a PPI, I think.... Of the 3 PPI's I have had done, not one issue was came up and I felt like $300 was wasted each time.by SeaNile - Main Forum
I think $26000 is a fair price if the car is flawless with no issues. It being at a VW/Subaru dealer makes me a little suspicious. If it was at a Pcar dealer they would know the car and what to look for a little better. At $26900 it is at the low end of the advertised prices of the web. Not that any of the $30K+ cars are selling but there are few sub $30K 05 S cars out there with under 30K miby SeaNile - Main Forum
From my diesel days of working on my boat the raw water impeller pieces would always be down stream in the heat exchanger area. If this was in a boat I could help but in a Porsche I'm clueless!!by SeaNile - Main Forum
It's actually a name of a boat I use to have. The story behind it is back in 87 my father and I went to the NY Boat show and in a surprise move my dad bought a boat at the show, without my mom really knowing. So after everything settles and the boat is getting prepared a few months later the discussion of naming the boat comes up. Well somehow my mom found out the price and said "you're goingby SeaNile - Main Forum
Cool car. You were about 5 minutes from me, I live right by Rt 1 and 202. I considered an SLK but think the Boxster S will suit my needs better. Great choice on the car!by SeaNile - Main Forum
I also found another 05 S, 30K miles at an Infinity dealer asking $24,985. I'm not interested in the car but the price is more realistic.by SeaNile - Main Forum
Spoke to a Porsche dealer this am. They have a very similar 05 S for sale and are asking $32,000. I told them in all reality I would not be buying from them but asked how they got to that price. They emailed the transaction info over to me and told be most 05 S cars with low miles will be traded at about $25000, add in the CPO costs, etc and they are at 29K for the car and asking $32K. So, thby SeaNile - Main Forum
Car is about 500 miles away so I can't do the slow walk away as this would be done via email, phone and wire $$. Big picture, I don't think $27900 is a terrible price at all, especially when you look online and see the other 05 S cars with low miles going for $33K+. I doubt the car will sell for $24K but I also am not in a rush and know there will be other cars out there. If I think about Mikeby SeaNile - Main Forum
I'm curious if you traded it in or sold privately? I'm in the market for a Boxster S and would be curious about the details. Johnby SeaNile - Main Forum
Seems that the car was well cared for and had all service at the local (where initially bought) Porsche dealer. All things done according to schedule, oil changes, services, brake flush, etc. So if I go back to the beginning from when I have been watching, the car was listed for $28,950 and they could come down to $28450 but that was absolutely the lowest price. Looked online today and it isby SeaNile - Main Forum
Seems to be competitively priced compared to other cars on the net. Especially seeing 04's for $25-27K. If this 987 has all records, etc., I think it could be a decent car. They say final price is 28450 and as usual they have several interested parties at this price.by SeaNile - Main Forum
Just called about the car. They do have all service records, car was very well maintained by Porsche dealerships, damage is not fixed yet from the snowplow and there is a deposit on the car. We will see if the deposit and deal goes through since the car has damage. If the deal goes through no big deal. Part of the fun for me is the thrill of the chase!by SeaNile - Main Forum
