Ordering one from scratch makes great sense but doing so now is nigh impossible. Sigh.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
I do indeed and if ordering from scratch, that would be my choice.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Welp, after further "discussions" with my spouse (she loves the S for short-term drives but otherwise feels its uncomfortable), I have notified the dealership that I am too conflicted to pull the trigger. PDK a factor in this, as are the 18-way seats. Right car, right price ... it's surely out there, somewhere, possibly even in 911 form.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
$38,000 offer slightly better than expected but not sure that's guaranteed. Dealer has not seen my car, nor me theirs. Only have my description and probably Carfax. Sweat trickling down neck right now.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
No I have not driven a GTS so good question and a slight concern. IMHO, I have watched enough YouTube videos to get a pretty good sense of what this car, and what it isn't. My biggest hangup is the PDK but I could certainly live with it (oh the travails of First World compromise!). Quicker car/better fuel efficiency. I have driven a couple of PDK cars--'18 Carrera S coupe (gorgeous and appealinby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Seems that's true. The big question remains: What's a 981 S worth these days? Values rising, I should think.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
I hear you. Would probably miss the manual and might be reason enough to take a pass. Then again, I've driven PDK and they're different, but still fun.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
I've got my eye on a new 718 Boxster GTS with PDK (highly optioned), but I own a 2013 Boxster S with manual. What do you think? How big an upgrade is the GTS to the 981S? Also, if I negotiate a trade, what kind of discount should I expect (if any) on a GTS? What about trade-in value for my 981S? Stock car, no mods. Excellent mechanical condition/minor cosmetic issues typical of a car with 43by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Curious if your GTS is manual or PDK?by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Thanks for sharing. Nice video! Driving anywhere into the villages of Europe can be daunting if you want to avoid scratches or surprise parking violations. We will never forget Arcos de la Frontera, Spain -- nor will our our rental Volkswagen (couldn't afford a Porsche), which sustained a scratch along the door panel. Fortunately, we turned it in without any problem thanks to some streaky mud camby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Yes, we've considered after-market sport exhaust systems. I would be happy with that but there's the wife to consider. Plus I like the idea of having a Porsche system that can be turned off. Resale might be better, too.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
I remember listening to a sound comparison on a Porsche web site and there are UTube videos that capture the additional resonance (which sounds great when the car is driven hard). It's certainly appealing but I'm less inclined now to fork over the dough now than I was when I first posted. Not sold on the ROI. Having said that, would look hard at including the sport exhaust option if buying new orby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
How long did you stay in each area (Malta and Sicily)? Also, what cities/villages served as home base?by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
If I do end up buying the danged thing, it will clearly be the most frivolous purchase I've ever made!by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Duh. Not sure how "Sport sport exhaust" ended up as thread title but this was obviously in error. Apologies.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Thinking about ordering a Porsche Sport Exhaust system for my 2013 981 S. Suncoast sells the complete system for $2,195 but adds $550 for the chrome tip, bringing the total to $2,745 plus shipping. Our local Porsche dealer would do the install for $1,300. Total investment over $4,100. Wow. Has anyone else taken this step and, if so, are you happy with the results? Also wondering whether the chromby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Still under warranty and I will have it checked out. The failure occurred only on the driver's side ... all OK on passenger side.by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Hmmm. 2013 Boxster S. Both of these luxurious extras stopped working a couple of thousand miles ago. Checked fuses (one for cooled seat motors, one for passenger seat cooled seat). Looked good. Interestingly, did not see a fuse for heated seats or driver's side cooled seat. Any ideas about what might be going on?by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
$75, including shipping. Metropol Blue top off 2000 Boxster (arctic silver metallic paint). Very good shape, no holes or leaks, should last many years. Top is original to car, which was always stored indoors through 60,000 miles. Needs new plastic window (old one cracked in cold weather). Ideal for DIYers or professional install.by Kinnick4Ever - Parts for Sale
Thanks Pedro. I have had the airbag light reset. Cost me $50 but all is good! As for removing the side airbag, the problem I ran into was that the airbag fixture and its four bolts were mounted atop the sticky protective inner door lining. I couldn't see a way around either cutting the lining around the air bag bag fixture--which I didn't want to do for obvious reasons--versus simply removing theby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Thanks much. I am looking into having the codes read. BTW, I did disconnect the battery for 20 minutes prior to removing the side airbag. However, installing the regulator required me to re-activate the battery and turn on the ignition key before reconnecting the air bag (the ignition key must be on to finesse re-re-installation of the window). The airbag remains disconnected because its wiringby Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Today I installed an aftermarket window regular, passenger side, on my 2000 Boxster. Took me all afternoon but the window works great. Alas, when I started the car to go for a spin, I noticed the airbag light stayed on. Obviously, I messed something up. I'm not sure what what to do next. Any suggestions?by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Time for a new winbow regulator on the passenger side (00 Boxster). Porsche original part runs $270 or so. Pelican Parts has a Uro brand replacement for $150. I've seen others on eBay for less (euroasia parts carries them for about $110). Does anyone have any experience or recommendations regarding aftermarket regulators?by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Thank you all for your help and advice. Ten days later and I'm still all smiles every time I get behind the wheel ... this car is amazing!by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Took the Megabus to Chicago on Friday with a friend, sealed the deal, and drove it back home to Iowa City, smiling the whole way. Absolutely love the car. What a machine! I'm soooo glad to have the "S" with manual transmission. Anyone who calls this is a "hairdresser's" car is full of it. This is a serious road machine! Thankfully, the weather's been good and I've been driving it quite a bit ....by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
Negotiated a final price of $55,000. Picking up the car tomorrow. Can't wait!by Kinnick4Ever - Main Forum
