I got it started but I didn't really do much. As suggested I checked all the fuses and they were all good. I also checked the module under the seat - it was bone dry. I also checked the connections. Then I went to start the car and it popped right off. It ran for about 40 minutes, flawlessly. I rev'd the engine a few times and there was not an issue, smooth response. All of our lives ebb and flow and although some of the things we love and enjoy may have to take a "backseat" from time to time, I truly love the Boxster community. This place is always a great place to find a smile even during tough times. Like many of you, this year has been a tremendously trying year. I won't get into all of the details, but sadly, I wasn't able to spend anywhere near theby John from MN - Main Forum
This year I went back to non oxy gas because many gas stations in this area have non oxy gas as their highest octane (91) - we love our boats here in MN! The next highest is 89. There is one gas station near me that has 93 oxygenated and 91 non oxy. I started the year using the 91 non oxy and the codes came back on after about 500 miles. Remember, I replaced MAF and ruled out all leaks and deby John from MN - Main Forum

I completely understand what you're describing. I'm the exact same way. We had 16 inches of snow a week ago and a blizzard, which it means I'm waiting for the street sweepers to sweep up all the snow and salt from our rediculously loooooong winter. 70 today, so it won't be long, but I"m chomping at the bit! Over the winters I've thought about selling it, and then spring comes and I drive it aby John from MN - Main Forum

I love learning about how our cars are different. I'm at the service department today getting ready to store the car for the winter.... very sad day indeed.by John from MN - Main Forum
should not be any signs of wetness." Are you saying a little white residue is normal, or is that cause for concern? I have seen white residue on occasion, but never a lot - and when I topped off the resevior today, it was down only about 1.5 quarts. I also ordered a new cap that should be here by Thursday.by John from MN - Main Forum
obviously that has to be addressed. Which is fairly odd because I have no fluid on the garage floor. Also, I had driven it the previous day and put over 100 miles on - and the temp was consistent with where it always runs - and the light never came on. The light only flashed when I first started it up yesterday. The coolant tank is very low, nearly empty. I did check the cap and the numberby John from MN - Main Forum
flashing today and the reserve tank is quite low. The dealer is closed and won't open until Monday - but it's like 90 degrees today and 83 tomorrow (which in MN in Sept is super awesome). Can I just go up the local Napa and get some coolant? And if so, what is the recommended brand/type and it's a 50:50 mix, right?by John from MN - Main Forum
the driving experience for me. For me, the best part of driving the Boxster is the handling and taking a 35 MPH curve at 60, this system would prevent that - except for the manual override which would be a pain in the neck to constantly override. I want as much control of the car as possible, I don't want to give that up a computer - it steals the fun and the skill.by John from MN - Main Forum
Weird. After the first tankful and the first MAF cleaning I reset the CEL. When it came back on, I left it on and again treated the next tank of gas and cleaned the MAF again. Today, while driving, the same twisty roads with the same aggressiveness, the light magically went off when the tank was nearly empty. It had been about 400 miles since the light had went on for the second time. I suspby John from MN - Main Forum

should be triggering. They did check for leaks and didn't find any, said the injectors were fine, and weren't concerned with the MAF - although I had just cleaned it prior to them seeing it. Their explanation was that it was either that I didn't use the Porsche Brand O2 sensors or that I just wasn't driving it hard enough. I thought their explanation was weak, but felt good that they weren't tby John from MN - Main Forum

I don't know anything about MAF readings but that seems odd. Am I interpreting it correctly and is that a sign of a bad MAF sensor?by John from MN - Main Forum

the MAF reading at idle varied between 0 - 1 inch with the majority of the readings being .5 inches. At 3000 RPM, the readings didn't appear, once I let it idle again, the previous readings were reported again. Reading the MAF readings is new to me so I don't know what the inches are referencing or even if I did it correctly, which I'm guessing I didn't otherwise why would the MAF readings disby John from MN - Main Forum

in MN, Non - Oxy is available mostly for boats, classic cars, and small engines, but it's tougher to find. I'm lucky in that I have 3 stations near me that carry it. I've been using it in the Boxster because I feel it's better for the car than ethanol. I can find the ethanol blend in Top Tier and boost the octane to 92, non top Tier I can find at 93. But it sounds like the consensus is that tby John from MN - Main Forum
Interestingly, I did try the techron many miles ago and the light went off, BUT returned 500 miles later. I've tried everything suggested here, but nothing works - hence the mystery. The car seems to be running perfectly and the dealer says there are no leaks, exhaust, intake, or otherwise. They say to keep driving it and that it won't the car. 2001 boxster s. 44k miles. Throws both codes. I've cleaned MAF, replaced both O2 sensors, checked AOS, there isn't an exhaust leak, did the oil cap check and it still throws both codes. The codes indicate passenger side, I swapped the sides of the O2 sensors and codes tripped again saying passenger side, so clearly O2 sensors are fine. Checked trim levels, functioning normal. I'll verify with them because they still want another $300 for labor so a total of $600, which seems awfully expensive if it's truly as cheap of a part as you say. I don't think it's the maintainer because that is a Porsche part. Thanks for your help!by John from MN - Main Forum
It's been a long time since I've been here, and it's good to see a lot of familiar names. I just got back from the dealer with my 01S (manual) and reportedly the alternator had "excess diode ripple indicating the diode bridge has failed". Which basically means, bad alternator. They say they can repair it for $300 which sounds better than a new one at $1200 + labor. My question is, are the altby John from MN - Main Forum
