Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from New Hampshire! Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Checked the Boxster and the GT3 flaps. Both are still unlocked. Edby Ed B - Main Forum
I don't remember if I used the key or remote to release the flap. The only has happened once, so far, on the GT3 and never on the Boxster. Next time I'm in the garage, I'll check both of them. Edby Ed B - Main Forum
Interesting thought. Car is always garaged and doesn't get exercised often. Most miles are on the Audi A3 or F250. Only the cover was locked. Car is rarely locked in the garage. Hasn't happen to the Boxster. I'll check it while it's in its winter hibernation to see if it happens again. Maybe it's a "feature", like oil leaks. Edby Ed B - Main Forum
Boxster has been put to bed for the winter.(It snowed last night). Wanted put the '04 GT3 to bed, fill gas tank first. Couldn't open the cover. Checked Boxster cover to see what might be wrong. Locking pin on the GT3 had not retracted. Lightly tapping on the cover had no effect. Car has not been locked for some time. Before I started to pry it open, Tried locking and unlocking the car. It workeby Ed B - Main Forum
Hi all, We are still here trying to recover from lightening damage. No fire but lots of electrical damage. Furnace is on temporary wiring. Boxster and other Porsches are happy. if anyone in central NH needs exercise we have some firewood to split, (power splitter), and stack. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Hi, Thanks, Liz, Constantly finding more damage,. Destroyed at least 5 battery maintainers. One garage door opener has stopped working. Insurance company is not cooperating. Wants date and place of purchase of every failed item. Edby Ed B - Main Forum
Hi, On August 4th, we had a major lightning strike a large pine about 20 feet from the kitchen. Nancy was in the. kitchen but didn't jump high enough to dent the ceiling. Took a 100ft crane to remove what was left of tree. Minimum damage to house. structure Destroyed phone/internet system, FM antenna, TVs dish system, a TV, Solar hot water and furnace controls, several electrical circuits, most oby Ed B - Main Forum
Chill factor on mt. Washington got to -108F. New US record. We should have +50F in day or so. Goodie! Maybe the snow will melt off our solar panels. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Plastic and it's sleeping for the winter. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Hi, -17F this morning, with chill factor of - 35F. Frostbite in 5 to 10 minutes. Last night it was - 44F on mt. Washington with a chill factor of -103F. No mosquitos, though. Edby Ed B - Main Forum
Merry Christmas to you, too. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Electric vehicles are like horses, you have to feed them whether you use them or not. Where are the horses now? Where does the electricity come from? Mostly from burning fossil fuels. Lots of resistance against solar arrays and wind farms. We do what we can. We have a PV system and a solar / water collection system for hot water and heat. We heat mostly with wood but do have a rarely used propby Ed B - Main Forum
Happy New Year all! May you have a god year of Boxtering. Rain and freezing rain in NH today. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Disconnecting the battery may erase the emission readiness monitors so it won't pass emissions testing. Areal pain to reset. You have to drive the car at certain speeds for certain lengths of time to reset them. Each make of car is different. Instructions are on the net. If I recall correctly BMW and Porsche are the same procedure. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
We will have a White Christmas. 36 to 40 inches yesterday. Anybody want some? Free! You pick up in central NH. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
I was into old cars when a friend showed up in a 356 cab. I'd had a VW and a TR3. I was impressed by the handling, performance and quality. Had to have one. First Porsche was a 1954 1300S cabriolet. ( I was working for a VW dealer at the time). Car is now in Germany, restored, valued at 400000 euros. Got to drive it again a few years ago, in Germany. Have owned 14 Porsches. To change the oil in Porsche Carrara 6, (906), first remove engine. There was a GM model that you had to remove the engine or steering to change some spark plugs on the V8. To replace the clutch on a Lotus Elan, remove the engine and maybe the transmission and floor pan. In an MG TD transmission, the shift rod detents were not captured. Pull the rods out and the balls and springs would launch intby Ed B - Main Forum
In NH most businesses are still closed. Some restaurants are doing take out. Essential businesses (construction, hardware stores, liquor stores, grocery stores, car repair shops, etc. are on reduced hours.) Our grocery store has special a special hour for senior citizens only. One way isles, 6ft markers on the floor. Social distancing and face masks recommended. Nancy and I had our annual phyby Ed B - Main Forum
May 2020 be a happy year for you all and your Porsche(s). Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Yes, but we get a lot of snow & ice here. Winter fun is provided by an '00 Audi S4, an '07 Aud A3 3.2 Quattro and an F250 diesel PU with a plow. There is always the Case back hoe/loader if things get really bad. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Sad time. Daylight savings is over, the Porsches are sleeping for the winter, and snow is predicted for Thursday. For skiers out there, Killington Vt is open. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Similar problem with my '07 Audi A3. Spare key not used for several years. Led on the remote would light but not unlock/lock the car. From the owner's manual, push the unlock button and immediately put the key in the door lock and unlock the door. It worked. The remote is now OK. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Some time ago I posted that the ignition key in my '04 GT 3 became very hard to turn. (same as Boxster unit). My good friend Damon, Series 900, Sunapee NH, claimed it was the electrical part of the switch. I wasn't so sure. I tried to remove the switch, but I'm not flexible enough, so Damon came to help. (I help him in his Porsche body shop occasionally). Not the switch. We removed the key/tumblby Ed B - Main Forum
Code 4266 is "return pump fault". This is a failure of the ABS. From the shop manual;" no feedback signal (return-pump monitoring ) to the control module." I'd send you a copy of the page, (40 - D 30) that has some PST 2 instructions if I knew how to attach it. I can send it to your email address. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
There is an 18 hole golf course up for auction in Newport NH at the end of the month, if you are interested. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
It's not thawing out in central NH. Snow, rain and frizzing rain yesterday. More rain and maybe snow tonight. Might get a little sun on Thursday Ed B.by Ed B - Main Forum
Instrument cluster that worked had physical damage. Swapped mother boards between clusters and neither worked. Swapped boards back but still had an issue with the undamaged board. Foun a ribbon connector not complete seated. Now both clusters work! Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
