Well, the factory tool broke at the tip. I used a long robust, flat screwdriver..Wedge it between the cap and ball joint. Then hit it with a 32oz mallet to separate it just a bit. I used a twisting, pulling motion to separate just a little more. Finally, I finish it off with the pry bar. Not easy but I got it done. Thanks. Danby djw8282 - Main Forum
Hey Smilin, I installed H&R springs and I was surprised it isn't so jarring as well. Danby djw8282 - Main Forum
Hello Steve. Thanks for the quick reply! I've used a crowbar and a long screwdriver to try to pop it off but no go. Maybe the factory tool has the magic touch. I'll give that a try. Danby djw8282 - Main Forum
Hello all, It's been a while since I posted on the board. It's nice to see a lot of familiar names still posting. The forum set-up reminds me of PPBB which is comforting. Anyway...I'm having an issue with my top. Actually my first top issue in 18 years my 2002 Box S. I was dreading this. I have checked the latch switch and the convertible top relay and they are good. I do hear a sound from thby djw8282 - Main Forum
Hello Pedro, Interesting how you have been able to make your clutch last. What is the proper way to rev match? For years I've double-clutch to rev match by going into neutral to blip the throttle, then slide into a lower gear but it's not ideal in every situation like braking hard before a corner. I assume you mean heal and toe by rev-matching. I have tried to practice at it but still am unsureby djw8282 - Main Forum
Just curious of the end result as I am in the middle of an install of the slave and I finally was able to get the slave into place and mounted last night. When I finally got it in I felt like a weakling with no strength Lol. I hope it's in place with the fork and I don't have any issues as you experienced . Next is to connect the hydraulic line and bleed. if anyone has any to ad it would be appreby djw8282 - Main Forum
Are these the clear headlights?by djw8282 - Parts for Sale
Hello Marc..Just wanted to follow up. As always you give great advice. I went back and remeasured. The clamps that connect the U-pipes to the muffler are 44.5mm (1 3/4) and the coupler that connects the cats to the U-pipes are 45mm. I was able to get stainless steel for the clamps but not the coupler. The coupler brand that I ordered actually makes the Porsche coupler. They fit perfectly. I savby djw8282 - Main Forum
Hello all. I'm looking for the size in either inches or mm for the exhaust clamps that attach the muffler to the U-pipes. I would like to replace mine with stainless steel. My stock clamps are pretty rusted and leaking air.by djw8282 - Main Forum
Nice! It does feel good to complete it yourself and save money! Where you able to torque that passenger side upper bolt with a torque wrench?by djw8282 - Main Forum
Thanks for the reply Pedro. I was able to use a long wrench to loosen that upper left bolt but I could not get a socket on it cause the 2 bolts that hold the engine mount to the yoke are directly in the way. I need the socket to torque it to the 34 ft/lbs. I will lower the engine a little more when I go to reinstall the mount tonight but it seems those 2 bolts that hold the yoke to the mount willby djw8282 - Main Forum
Well I took out the the old mount (the scissor jack worked great!) Just one question for you Pedro, were you able to torque the upper left head bolt (passenger side) that fasten the mount to the engine?by djw8282 - Main Forum
Thanks Pedro..I appreciate it!by djw8282 - Main Forum
In observing your pictures on the DIY site, I notice what looks like your using the OEM mechanical jack to hold the engine. Is the OEM jack sufficient in holding the engine?? I'm kind of nervous of lowering the engine too quickly with a hydraulic jack (I don't want to cause any damage!). The mechanical jack looks like the perfect solution..Thanks in advance!by djw8282 - Main Forum
Hello all..I know its been over a year since I've replied to this thread but its been a busy year for myself, along with my car sitting for a little while. I just wanted to take the time and follow up on my post in hopes it may help someone in the future. I was successful in getting into the trunk and repairing both the electrical release that is activated from inside the car and the key fob as wby djw8282 - Main Forum
Hey Kinnick..Thanks a lot for the reply, its highly appreciated. My car is a 2002 Boxster S. Its the first year for 986 where you can pop the trunk electronically from inside the car and the key fob. My car does have the emergency trunk release. It was hanging when I took the bumper off. I'm at a lost as how the emergency cable severed as well. I'm still not sure where your body shop started to gby djw8282 - Main Forum
Can you please go into detail the area of the carpet and metal framework that needs to be dissembled? Did you do it or the body shop? I'm looking from the rear with the bumper off and I was only able to unscrew a bracket that holds the top of the bumperby djw8282 - Main Forum
My problem is the emergency cable has completely snapped from the inside! When I pulled on it, it simply came out. I'm not completely sure what you mean by "doohicky" but where is it exactly located? And where do I exactly start the dissembly??by djw8282 - Main Forum
Well I'm at the end of the road..I finally got around to taking the bumper off to check the condition of the trunk release. I actually had to because my rear break light is out, my coolant light comes on intermittently without over heating ( I assume its low on coolant) and I need a oil change . The trunk release is totally severed and I'm at lost as to how its possible to get in the rear trunkby djw8282 - Main Forum
Thank you Pedro..I appreciate it!!by djw8282 - Main Forum
Hello all.. My rear trunk release wire has snapped. I was wondering before I take the rear bumper off and wing, can the broken wire be re-wired or is this something I will have to replace? Thanks!by djw8282 - Main Forum
Wow, this is exactly what I need!! I have a 2002 S. The line that I have is line 9. I actually was trying to unscrew as the Porsche manual has instructed, but its not coming apart..I'm starting to round out the ends..Lubrication to loosen it up maybe?? Hello All..First post here.. I had a small puncture in the blue clutch line that runs under the driver side, extending into the wheel well and I've been coming into some difficulty in getting the line disassembled. I received the replacement clutch line and the end of the line isn't threaded, it seems it just snaps in although you can turn the other end with 15mm wrench. Does it just snap out wby djw8282 - Main Forum
