For whatever it's worth, one person's perspective: I have an RS60 with manual transmission, as well as a Cayman GTS with PDK. I had to "settle" for the latter, as I could not find any manual transmission GTS's without the X-73 option, when I finally decided to buy one (after the 718 was introduced.) I've always been a manual transmission fan, and generally hated automatics. However, I must confeby kmmalek - Main Forum

My 2008 RS60 has... 15,000 miles. Must drive more.by kmmalek - Main Forum
Sorry to hear about this. Very strange. On a lighter note: we finally have a good reason for having the ignition key on the left side: Le Mans start (or at least ignition on) helps avoid having the airbag deploy in your face...by kmmalek - Main Forum
GTS models are now being introduced sooner after the model launch, as opposed to near the end of the run as in the past. See the Macan GTS, for example. I also understand a 911 GTS is imminent. GTS is becoming an additional trim level, just like S. Remember, in the past there used to be a 911T, a 911E, and 911S.by kmmalek - Main Forum

I have a set of 18" turbo twist (aka "Technology") wheels from my 2001 Boxster S. They are in a Boston 'burn (12 miles west of Boston). They still have the original tires on them (I switched to 17" after a few months of getting the car, due to the condition of the roads here). Let me know if interested and I can email you some pictures. Kamalby kmmalek - Parts for Sale
Hi Jim, I still have the crate my hardtop came in (2001 Boxster S). Yes, I practice extreme packrat-ing (actually, it's such a well made crate I did not want to scrap it….) It is large: 63" x 57"1/2 x 27"1/2. It is located in a suburb of Boston. I don't have a truck, so we would need to arrange to have it picked up. I suggest you look into shipping costs (unfortunately, I don't know how muchby kmmalek - Parts for Sale
Quotegrant ..won't get N rated as is because it is more abrupt at break-away. Its more high strung. I have not noticed anything worng with them, but the PS2 and PS ribs were among the most gradual, progressive break-aways of any tires i've driven. Albeit lower grip. I'd still buy them, but the PS2s do have redeeming qualities. Grant Thanks again. Very helpful.by kmmalek - Main Forum
Thanks, Grant. I'm not trying to save money; I just hate to pay a premium for a generation old product. I did not know that the PS2 is more forgiving. All the comments I've read are about the PSS being quieter, smoother riding, and much better in the wet than the PS2.by kmmalek - Main Forum
A few days ago, I drove over some broken pavement (New England in the Spring) at an "unfavorable" angle resulting in a cut right front tire. The tires are still the original PS2 N1 tires; the car has less than 10K miles on it. I'm willing to forego the N rating in order to get a set of Pilot Super Sports, given the rave reviews I've read about that tire. The problem is that I can't find a non-manby kmmalek - Main Forum
4; 3 click type of varying ranges and one beam type. Not counted: broken beam type that I use as a breaker bar. I'm also not counting a small torque key, a torque wrench preset to 5 Nm, which I use for my bicycles.by kmmalek - Main Forum
I like that the shifter is closer to the wheel in height; however, it looks like it may be set further back than the old one. I wouldn't like that one bit. That's the case in the E90 BMW, and it felt very unnatural. I assume the Boxster's won't be anywhere near as bad; but generally, I think companies are now designing for autos and PDK, not for manual.by kmmalek - Main Forum
It won't fit. The shape of the side windows is different on the second gen Boxster.by kmmalek - Main Forum
I'm selling a set of factory 17" rims. These were optional in 2002 and 2003, I believe. Some people think they look a bit like Fuchs wheels. Sizes are: Front: 7J x 17 ET55 Rear: 8.5J x 17 ET49 Wheels are in very good condition, with no road rash, except for some "garage rash" on one of the rears (some pock marks on the face of the wheel, where a mechanic "allowed" the wheel to lie on its face!).by kmmalek - Parts for Sale
I have the original wooden shipping crate for a 986 hardtop, form when I bought a new hardtop from Suncoast many years ago now. It is in as-new shape. I think a 987 top would also fit in it. I had kept the crate stored in my garage, as I expected to sell the top separately after selling the car, and crating a hard top is difficult and expensive. As it turned out, I sold the top with the car lastby kmmalek - Parts for Sale
