John and Pedro, thank you. I plan to pull the front access cover this week… your directions are of a great help. I’ll remove the belt and look for cracking. It will also allow me to try and spin the pulleys, spin the alternator and water pump. Thanks again.by m2 - Main Forum
By divulge it… I mean, actually having the noise reappear while running. I have had the noise occur but have not been able to have it begin again while running with the engine cover off. I have replaced both the idler pulley and belt myself, a long time ago. The pulley or something running off the belt was one of my original thoughts… but it doesn’t squeal like a slipping belt. The idler pulley beginning to fail makes sense to me and I keep hoping it will divulge itself to me. Thank you for your assistance… greatly appreciated.by m2 - Main Forum

Follow up - the build up on top of the air channels is not oily. It is dry.by m2 - Main Forum
My Boxster is making a screeching sound that does not always occur. The car is at the 80,000 mile mark and my query of the site suggest the AOS can produce that noise. I have opened up the engine bay to help locate the noise but it does not always occur. I drove the car last night with not luck. What I did notice is a slight hiss when pressing the accelerator that immediately drops off… like thby m2 - Main Forum
Thanks so much for the reply. I did not realize it was as simple as cutting of the electrical supply then awaiting a period of time for the system to discharge. The air bags unexpectedly activating has kept me from replacing the regulator for sometime. I’ll disconnect the battery then give it plenty of time to discharge. Thanks again.by m2 - Main Forum
I need to replace my driver door window regulator but am uncertain of how to disable the door air bag… prior to disassembly. I would appreciate instruction on how to do this safely. I have replaced window regulator assemblies before on other cars… however, no air bags were involved. Thank you in advance.by m2 - Main Forum
Does anyone have directions on how to replace the rear trunk cable, running from the motorized actuator to the release mechanism? also, Are there any precautions I need to take when replacing the driver side window regulator, concerning the side air bag? thank youby m2 - Main Forum
I'm not concerned about the impact to sales... but I'd be interested in driving a mid engine Vette. I am leery of the sharp lines of the Vette's body styling based on the photos and the current size; however, hp speaks to a internal lust. I own a 2000, 2.7... have enjoyed every day I have driven it and would love to have 350 hp at my access. Would I give it up for a car that handles the same wby m2 - Main Forum
IMO, Dodge has done such a great job of maintaining the retro look of the original Challenger... every time I see one I'm reminded of the 70's movie Vanishing Point. Yours being White... Classic. Challenger, Cuda's, Chargers... MoPar's finest. HP now is redic. That much jump and my rear bumper would be passing me on the right. I purchased my Boxster used and the sport exhaust was previously installed along with 030 suspension, 18" wheels and Boxster inscribed door scuff plates. Overall those modification made for a very nice car. Simple aesthetics really do dress up and enhance your perception of the car... a car that I appreciate every time I drive it. The sport exhaust is very subtle... in my opinion. Coming fromby m2 - Main Forum
I've never thought about swapping out my 2.7 for a 3.6... that would be incredible. However, I had always thought being able to get to the hp. numbers of a 3.4 would make for an ideally balanced Boxster. My biggest concern would be the limitations or feasibility of mating the wiring harness and ECU. How do you work around those issues?... or have enough engine swaps been done that this isn't aby m2 - Main Forum
I positioned the arms where I believe they should be when turned off... then tightened both nuts that secure the wiper arm. The wiper now has a hard stop... which indicates to me that Marc's suspicion that the arms had come loose on the shaft and were rotating, is accurate. I tested them at variable and high speed while washing the car... and they are now working as normal. I'm surprised the nby m2 - Main Forum
Last night my windshield wipers began to act erratic. It began with the passenger side starting to click as it bottomed out in the tray. Then the same wiper only traveled partially through it’s cycle… while still clicking as it bottomed out in the tray. It would then function as normal then start traveling erratic a few cycles later. The driver side wiper functioned as normal. At one poiby m2 - Main Forum
Thanks Marc. So the takeaways are: 1) it is an explosive device, handle with caution and potential of directional explosion. 2) remove the ignition key, disconnect the battery at both terminals and allow time for the system to dissipate it's charge. Any other recommendations or experience?... greatly appreciated.by m2 - Main Forum
2000 Boxster, replacing the window regulator... can hear the cable as the window comes up to the top. My question is in regard to the air bag, I have watched various videos demonstrating how to remove the door panel and replace the regulator... but do I need to do anything to disconnect the airbag or neutralize it? Is there any potential for my activating it during removal? Thank you...by m2 - Main Forum

Last summer my car... 2000, 2.7, died in the left hand turn lane awaiting the light to change. It was running fine prior to dying and had been driven about 30 minutes or so. After waiting for almost 2 hours for a flatbed... it finally started after the driver was ready to put hooks on it. It then ran almost the exact same distance and died again as I started to pull away after telling the towby m2 - Main Forum
I have moved to an area that is very rural, Calaveras, CA... a lot of twisty 2 lane roads with very little shoulder, so verifying the fix is a little unnerving. On the positive side... roads made for appreciating a Boxster. Thanks again... I will provide an update in a few weeks.by m2 - Main Forum
Last summer my Boxster stalled at a traffic light after running for about 30 to 45 mins.. The engine would not restart until the engine had cooled for an extended period of time... in my case, after the flat bed arrived 2 hours later, lol. No error codes were ever recorded. Members of the board indicated the Crankshaft sensor was bad and needed replacement. Removal and replacement was not terrby m2 - Main Forum
Hello... back from Italy, time to tackle the Crank position sensor. Although I am not certain this is the problem... no error message to confirm. How difficult is replacement of the sensor? Appreciate the insight.by m2 - Main Forum
Thank you... I will look there first, as that makes a lot of sense given the way symptoms. Got to admit... this is a strange one. After a few hours it started again. Nothing worse than an intermittent failure.by m2 - Main Forum
2000 Boxster, 2.7... no history of problems. Engine running fine, pull to a stop light... engine dies. Turns over as if it's not getting gas, gauge registers 1/4 tank). While waiting put in a gallon of gas. Wait 2 hours for a flatbed... truck pulls up and starts to raise his bed... Boxster starts (I've tried it 7 or 8 times while waiting). I have recently moved to an area of California where smog test are not required bi-annually (only at sale)... making modifications a reality. The techno power kit accompanied with headers offers the potential of ~ 30 hp. On a 2.7 that is a very promising improvement (aside from the discussion of $ to HP expense). My questions are... What headers have people chosen and what is recommended froby m2 - Main Forum
I recently replaced both my battery and alternator. I purchased a rebuilt alternator at the local (Winchester Auto) parts store... it turned out to be a Bosch. The price was around $200 dollars and I installed it myself. The most difficult part is described as the removal, not the case for me. With a few solid taps as the Pelican parts directions instruct on the top bolt my alternator was easby m2 - Main Forum
