Thanks to all for your inputs. Still trying to find TSB on the internet, but so far no luck.by p-wagen - Main Forum
Tried to find this on the internet with no luck. Addresses oil capacity change from 8.71 quarts to 9.24 quarts? Anyone have knowledge of what this is all about and where I can find this TSB on the internet? Thanks.by p-wagen - Main Forum
Have any of you all installed a wireless back-up camera in their Boxster? If so, what brand and how easy is it to do? (My Boxster is a '98) Rear view mirror type or some other place for the screen? Thanks, Richby p-wagen - Main Forum
Is the cap that can be the issue number 996-106-447-00? And cap number 996-106-447-01 is the improved replacement?by p-wagen - Main Forum
What I got from this is: Fill the tank and drive more. Thanks to all that posted.by p-wagen - Main Forum
My '98 Boxster has a little over 15,000 miles on it, (I only drive it about 800 miles a year.) I occasionally fill the tank, but usually fill it to the 3/4 mark and add fuel when it gets to the 1/4 mark. I use Texaco, 91 octane. I have never had an issue with the car starting or performing as it should. A friend who has six cars of which three get very little use, says I should fill the tankby p-wagen - Main Forum
Pedro, What a great looking little guy and beautiful family. Glad to hear all is going well for them.by p-wagen - Main Forum
There are a couple of listings on eBay for the one that fits in the console. Price is $47.99 with free shipping.by p-wagen - Main Forum
Great news Pedro. Thanks for sharing the updates and pictures. Beck sure is a handsome little guy!by p-wagen - Main Forum
Well......I swapped the speakers and still have the crackling sound from the right dash speaker. Also found that the driver door speaker has crackling sound....the left dash speaker also. And the passenger door speaker! My temporary solution to the problem: I turned the radio off! That is my fix for now. Anything more would be beyond my capability. I guess if I decide that I can't do without an oby p-wagen - Main Forum

Looked at a Boxster right side speaker unit on eBay and can see a capacitor wired between the smaller and larger speaker. What I would like to do is just remove the right hand speaker unit, (rather than a swap), and turn on the radio and see if it sounds o.k. My only concern is if by doing so, (right hand speaker unit removed), could cause a problem/harm since the load on the amp would be less.by p-wagen - Main Forum
If I find that it is a bad speaker, is it o.k. to disconnect the bad speaker and continue to use the radio until I get around to installing a replacement?by p-wagen - Main Forum
Turned on the radio today in my 1998 Boxster to play a CD and got loud crackling from the right dash speaker. Same in AM and FM. Base, treble, balance and fader changes make no difference. Music is there along with the crackling noise. Even with volume all the way down, the loud crackling sound is still there. Radio/CD player has been used very little. Am I correct to assume that the rightby p-wagen - Main Forum
Since I am not interested in reading about watches, etc., I guess I have received more than enough information to make a decision on fuel. Of the Top Tier fuels in my area, (Conoco, Exxon and Phillips 66), I will try them in alphabetical order. Of the Top Tier fuels mentioned in this thread that are not in my area, I will choose not to use them.by p-wagen - Main Forum
I too, would have stayed with Shell V-Power, but since they have left town, the available Top Tier fuels in my area are Conoco, Exxon or Phillips 66. Just trying to figure out which one is considered the better option by fellow Boxster owners.by p-wagen - Main Forum
When I first got my Boxster, 93 octane Texaco was available. When they pulled out of my area, I went with Shell, 91 octane. (Highest octane available). Now they have left and those stations have changed to Phillips 66. Other Top Tier fuels available to me are Conoco and Exxon. Any recommendations on which of these three would be best for the Boxster?by p-wagen - Main Forum
I have been twice. There are other car auctions at the same time as Barrett Jackson. Can't think of their names, but what I found interesting about them was that they had more affordable cars. 40's, 50's, 60's Chevys, Fords, etc., if you happen to like that kind of stuff. Nice aircraft museum in Mesa, which isn't too far away. Hope this info helps. You could check with the Phoenix or Scottsdby p-wagen - Main Forum
On my '98 Boxster, I am just now noticing that the backlighting on the radio, when it's on, only illuminates when the vehicle light switch is in either the "Parking Lights" or "Low Beam/High Beam" position. When the light switch is in any other position, and the radio is on, there is no backlighting. Is this correct? I would have thought the backlighting would be on any time the radio was on.by p-wagen - Main Forum
Thanks to both Pedro and MarkW for their posts. What Pedro describes is exactly what the problem is. A fixable Boxster problem without the layout of a bunch of money. Wow!by p-wagen - Main Forum
I have noticed lately small pieces of what looks like a light foam material, grey in color, coming out of the vents occasionally when I have the heater/AC blower running. Is this part of the particle filter, (996 572 219 01), that has come loose or some other issue? 1998 Boxster.by p-wagen - Main Forum
What model year did Porsche redesign the Boxster/Cayman engine and eliminate the IMS/Bearing issue?by p-wagen - Main Forum
Pedro, your reply states that "Porsche is only including the first generation single-row bearing cars." That being the case, could you tell me what is different about the 1997-2000 Boxsters that would preclude them from being included in the class action suit? Thanks.by p-wagen - Main Forum
Since the class action suit pertains to model years 2001-2005, does that mean the earlier 1997-2000 Boxsters don't have this potential IMS failure problem?by p-wagen - Main Forum

Has anyone on this board had any experience with any of the tire inflator/sealant products on the market? I know that Pennzoil and Prestone have several to choose from in 16, 18 and 20 oz. cans. Although my '98 Boxster has the donut spare, with a passenger on board there wouldn't be a place for the flat tire and rim.by p-wagen - Main Forum
This question may have been covered in the past, but I couldn't find it in the archives. Is there an after market on-off switch that can be installed on my 1998 Boxster so that the passenger air bag can be turned off? The reason I ask, is at a civic club meeting last week, our guest speaker was a State Highway patrolman speaking on safety. One of his remarks was that on the passenger side theby p-wagen - Main Forum
I have heard on the news lately that there is a push by our government to up the percent of Ethanol in gasoline from 10% to 15%, maybe as early as this summer. Anyone else heard this? I wonder what Porsche has to say about a 15% Ethanol gasoline blend in our Boxsters?by p-wagen - Main Forum
I was wondering why there is no info listed for 1997 and 1998 models.by p-wagen - Main Forum
