Hey guys... I'm trying to confirm a quote from my local shop about the book time they're quoting me from ALLDATA and/or ProDemand. Might anyone have access to either platform to confirm for me these times for a water pump and thermostat replacement + coolant system flush?? Water pump = 2.8 Stat = 1.6 System flush = 0.6 My complaint is that there can be no way a thermostat replacement takes 1.6by DanV - Main Forum
Pedro: I finally got around to test driving my car, since hte weather hit a balmy 46-degrees here in Chicago today. Here's what happened: I replaced the reservoir cap with a new one. I filled the reservoir with coolant/distilled water (1:1), since it was empty. I took a drive, and when the temp hit running temp and the fans kicked in... I immediately saw steam coming from beneath the car, so Iby DanV - Main Forum
Many thanks guys. Apologies for not including the recent repair. It was for the secondary air pump. I've ordered a new tank cap and will hope it's that easy to solve this issue. Thanks again, -Danby DanV - Main Forum
Hey guys.... I’ve just returned from my first long drive following a repair – about 18 miles. As I arrived near my home, I notice that the front cooling system blowers were running long and hard (this rarely happens but on the hottest summer days). The temperature gauge was running a little hot which struck me as odd, because again — I’ve only seen it rise on peak summer days here in Chiby DanV - Main Forum
Thanks for the responses guys. Pedro: question... I understand the secondary air pump sound (high pitch) you mentioned. It's sounded that way the life of the car. The newer sound I'm worried about is the lower-pitched, warbling-kind of sound in the foreground, which seems to be coming from the center of the engine. It's not a new sound, but it's quickly grown in volume. Would you mind taking anby DanV - Main Forum
Hi. Might someone have a recommendation for a good, independent Boxster mechanic in the Chicagoland area? Many thanks, -Danby DanV - Main Forum
Hi guys. I could really use some help with a strange wobbling/spinning noise in my 2002 Boxster. The noise coincides with the air pump at startup, but comes from the center of the engine. I assumed it was normal (I've heard it for years) but it has slowly grown louder over time. Could this be the water pump?? I also just started to get CEL codes P1411 and P0401, but I'm thinking that's unrelatby DanV - Main Forum
The reason the intermittence was so strange was that my turn signal, when it worked, would flash about 6 times and then die.by DanV - Main Forum
Coincidentally, I just posted about the same situation, but one that's left me without working turn signals / hazard lights. After replacing my HVAC control unit (the LCD was broken), my turn signal and hazard lights no longer work. Here’s the rundown: 1. I bought a replacement HVAC control unit on eBay. The serial number wasn’t an exact match to my broken one, but it looked identical. 2by DanV - Main Forum

Hey guys. I just busted my 2002 Boxster (63K) out of storage here in Chicago and I'm very concerned to be smelling an electrical burn smell coming from near the driver's rear tire and/or the air intake. I'm confident it isn't brakes, because the smell begins even if I just drive the care carefully around the block. No warning or CEL lights on the dash. The only other thing I notice is a slight bby DanV - Main Forum
Hi folks. Apologies for asking (because Imust be missing something), but I can't find any discussion in the archives about tips and/or costs for completing the 60k service only 986. Can you help me out? Thanks, -Danby DanV - Main Forum
Greetings everyone. I have a 2002 Boxster that is about to turn 60K. I've noticed lately an engine rattle sound for a brief moment when I star the car cold. I'm certain it's not a cat converter rattle. This sounds like the rattle I've heard occasionally, but only when starting the car after it might have sat for a week or so. Dashboard oil gauge shows normal. The only other small issue I've nby DanV - Main Forum
