My buddy just purchased one as he is putting a spec Boxster racer together..... same vintage as yours... $1000. I always thought the curves with a hardtop look better than the curves of the soft top. I always thought they goofed a bit on the lines as it looked to "squat" for me. To each his own. I am on DigiKey's website buying some fuses and holders as I am trying to repair my VTL 300 Deluxe tube amp that blew a ceramic fuse and melted the holder..... now to figure out what tube is bad....... yuck. Remember the day when every grocery store had a tube tester? Anyway, I am on Digikey's website and thought I would add a new multimeter to the list. I used the wings pedal on that car.... I didn't give it to you because I thought it would fit on the next one. I worked perfectly although I would remove it when I went to the track as braking pressures there lined them up fine. I think they may be out of business... but if you can find one, it was the best and highly adjustable. I now have a Rennline pedal with the side attachment. I saved all the receipts for my 195K Boxster and had big plans to graph it all out....... didn't.... too much work. Handed a few big folders to Grant when he purchased it. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Good luck...... Harrisburg is in the middle of nowhere. I drive past there 3 or 4 times a year driving from Philly to family in western PA and would like to know about a good restaurant.... absolutely beautiful drives around there as PA is really a beautiful state..... But as Carville said "Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Alabama in between". This is where Pennsylvania Dutch coby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Clean the throttle body.... that was the sole issue of my bouncy, irregular idle .... 2000 S. Peace Bruce In Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
While my 2000 S didn't make those noises, but it did require a real thorough cleaning of the throttle body. It would run really rough at idle and the rpms would bob...... something to check out. Good luck. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
My friend's brother has a Lotus he had prepped for the track.... always tweaking.... then he had a tuner install and ECU chip and tuned the car for 100 octane track fuel. Off the track, he would occasionally fill it with 93 octane. Well, doing this burned up his engine. Congratulations..... the job market is frosty still but improving. Add to the mess is that companies are transitioning from employees to contracting for labor. It used to be Kelly Girls when I was young, but that slowly moved up market and we are solidly in a historical transformation of the labor market. Interesting times. I just replaced pads, rotors, and brake fluid and tried out my new Porter Cable 20v impact driver. It works. I needed a new cordless system and settled on the Porter Cable stuff and am very impressed. I just couldn't see myself springing for a Bosch or Milwaukee given my expected light use. Anyway, I am very happy with these tools so far. A short vid..... A caution..... I used the PC driverby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
QuoteMarcW Just a word of caution. While coolant and oil temperatures are at nominal operating temperature not all oil is warmed up (and maybe not all the coolant either.) There can be some oil in the sump that believe it or not is really not in circulation and still relatively cold. A large increase in engine RPMs will of course result in a big demand for oil. I packed up the tips and shipping them to CCP near Detroit... I am sending there based on recommendations from a few Rennlisters. I got the impression that this is not a difficult, skilled craft, to ceramic coat so I just pulled the trigger on one that appeared to have a good price: about $200 for both dual tips (2009 C2S). I need to make a decision on ceramic vs powder coating for my exhaust tips. I have two local guys.... one does ceramic but does not stock flat black (my choice) and another powder guy who has my color. The powder guy denotes the range for powder as up to 250-300F. Bonus question: I want flat black. Is this a correct color? I want the darn things to be a dull black to match the black plastic triby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Good read but....... So, being green sells cars? I would love to know what goes on at the board level when they make decisions to spend mass amounts of money on something that doesn't sell. Now compliance..... we all get that. Governments hold the biggest gun, but unless a company has to spend money on green, it better sell something or the executives are in violation of their fiduciary respoby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
You won't hurt anyone if you take away something they never should have had. The Ethanol thing is pure politics. If there really was any benefit to it, it is over. The machines are now better, the prices are down, and it actually made food prices rise. There is no free lunch. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Quotemikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC I'm in a county that has potential for fracking. The economics of that have suddenly gone to heck and exploration scheduled for this year is on hold. Despite this, nat gas is in our future big time. The reason for the HOLD you speak of is because the Saudi's lowered their prices and we have a glut of gas production. This is classic. I have not driven the Tesla. I have an odd bias against electric cars. Some of it is irrational and some rational. Irrational: I grew up watching Saturday and Sunday racing on TV with Chaparrals and such. I even had a 1/24 scale slot with the wing... the torque of the engine would push or pull a little stiff wire up to the wing..... wow... I was cool. Yeeehaaa! Wow. My buddy took delivery a few weeks ago of an i8. Scissor doors, gas and electric...... wow. Interior: Stunning and very unique. Incredible detail and design. Getting in and out was not difficult but not easy either. You put one leg in, kinda duck under the door, sit on the rocker, pull the other leg in and slide down and in. Most think the police detection is really good. I don't agree. It is almost always wrong. I can't read the thing... the icons are too small and dopey... maybe better in later versions. The issue I am facing right now is the unit is failing...... trust me on this one. Regarding false laser triggering.... from when it was new, the following would falsely trigger the laser warning: 1. Cadilac LED tail lights.... other LED lights will do it too, but it seems Escalade lights are evil. LED lights flash by their nature. The brighter the LED lights, the more likely a false trigger.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
QuoteMarcW fixed with the check unwashed. I called and the tech support said the repair was free of charge. Another time more recently the unit started falling on another band. Again I sent it in with a check for repairs and got it back fixed with the check again uncashed. Call and arrange to send your unit in to have it fixed. Yes, Valentine is a good company. QuoteSpanky Their pick among brand-new cars for this type of fun is the Subaru BRZ. Yep, buddy of mine purchased one of these and tracked it extensively. The both of us ripped out his suspension a few times trying out new things. There are very few real sports cars available any more and the BRZ is one of them. It is amazingly easy to work on and modify. Great handling.... just a good car.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
