visit the dealer and have the comfort settings changed to enable this feature, unless the 2006 Boxster has an on-board computer which allows you to access/enable this feature. Probably not but check the manual first. Sincerely, MarcW.by MarcW - Main Forum
trash is present. My time with a trickle charger is very minimal but I seem to remember the battery does outgas some and this can contain water vapor. Be sure the battery's vent hose is attached to the battery, in good condition, and routed properly. If you are seeing water/condensation under *rear* trunk lid in area of access bay this can be a cracked coolant tank or a leaking coolant tank caby MarcW - Main Forum
QuoteMichael SYS Driver thanks Marc. The idle goes from good to bad to good again. I did just got a new readiator cap after having a bad aftermarket cap. The cap does not tighten any more, is there something else I can do? It does not seem to make any noise and it is fine when I drive, but the idling is getting worse. Is the AOS hose hard to replace? I would imagine it is only a little hardby MarcW - Main Forum
an AOS gone bad before it went bad enough to smoke. The next time after a couple of check engine light events and just a minor stumble (hardly noticable at that) concurrent with the check engine light coming on and with no other symptoms for nearly 2K miles until I started the car after arriving at my destination only then did the engine smoke like crazy. If the AOS is suspect, and I think it iby MarcW - Main Forum

(and I used to place a clean bath towel between the folds to keep the plastic window from rubbing) you can leave the top down quite a long time. No need to worry about using the top to keep the parts freed up. I use my top never save to put the top in the service position and it moves just fine. Sincerely, MarcW.by MarcW - Main Forum
If you want to check the TB pull it. If you find it dirty and oily... that's likely from a failing AOS. The AOS hose connects just behind the TB and when the AOS starts to go bad (at least in one failure mode) it dumps a lot of oil vapor into the intake system and this can make its way the very short distance to the TB and foul the TB and its butterfly valve. output. Most passenger vehicles spend the majority of their time operating at 30% of load or less. A smaller engine is lighter, has less internal friction, requires less oil, has a smaller footprint, requires a lighter structure to hold the engine in place and so on. There are huge benefits to a smaller engine that make all automakers moving to smaller engines a given over time. The V8 is deby MarcW - Main Forum
the last couple of weeks and spotted a large number of Cayenne and Panamera vehicles in the showrooms and on their lots. An interesting item caught my eye as I was looking over the various window stickers: At the bottom of the window sticker there is some fine print: "This vehicle sold to [ dealer name ]." I therefore believe that "sales" numbers are the cars sold to the dealers by the factoryby MarcW - Main Forum
was pulled and the door opened or worse dropping at door opening time then once the door open raising again so when the door was closed the top edge of the glass would strike the top rail with a sound that had me expecting to see pieces of safety glass all over the inside of the car. Preceeding the above the door lock LED (in the button on the dash) would come on at random times. I could press tby MarcW - Main Forum
loaded up car and called Porsche dealer in Merriam KS (near KC Mo). No dice. Service department booked solid until Dec. 8 and I was told no way could I get my car squeezed in. Called the Springfield, Mo Porsche dealership. Service advisor told me to hold on while he checked. Came back a few moments later and said "sure we can fit you in". So I quickly checked of the hotel and drove as fast as Iby MarcW - Main Forum
Quotescott in pa Thanks Marc, Yes, I'm glad that I just started it and shut it off and didn't take it for a spin as I usually do or I might have had a Boxster flambe. The swap was eight years ago so I think it was more likely fatigue then a connection problem. The connection to the rails was my first thought but I thought I would check to see if others have had similar problems. It has stoppeby MarcW - Main Forum
Albuquerque and Santa Rosa night before last. Came out of nowhere. Driving along in I-40 at 75mph and one minute the air is clear then the next minute I see snow flakes. At first just a few but quickly this few turned into many. Then too many. On the road surface I see snow sticking and tracks in the snow. Of course I'm slowed way down by now and cars zooming by in the fast lane like always. Butby MarcW - Main Forum

job a bit better because of it. BTW, as an experiement I continued to drive my car for a long time after the brake wear light came on. I found I could drive the car -- mainly not hold the car stationary at a stop unless necessary of course by using the brakes. If the car would remain stationary on its own I kept my foot off the brake and the light would stay off. I don't recall how many miles Iby MarcW - Main Forum
Watch yourself. Lots of leaking gas means lots of leaking fumes and a spark can set the car alight. Also, fumes will hug the ground and a water heater or furnance pilot light can set them off if you're working inside. An engine swap means the fuel lines were touched so look at the fuel line connections. While you're there of course, check for a cracked fuel rail, or a soft hose that has cracked/by MarcW - Main Forum

at any rate. Called Niello in Sacramento. Service told me it had a set of Bridgestones in stock and could put them on. Made record time from Walnut Creek to Sac. though I had to slow way down in the wet cause tires worn out. Car quite skittish. New tires installed and out just before 3pm. Just in time to hit some real heavy rain heading south. Decided to instead of setting out very late Sat. tby MarcW - Main Forum
water getting into the cabin. Is the rubber top or sheet still intact? If not a new top is about all that is available to you. If the cut didn't compromise the rubber sheet then I'd check in with the most highly regarded canvas top/convertible top repair shop in your area. The shop might be able to sew the edges together. the pad spring, the pad spring retaining pin and the spring clip that secures the pin in the caliper. If the calipers have to come off to be replaced again IIRC the caliper bolts should be replaced. I've reused the bolts provided they come out easy and are not corroded anywhere. I reassemble with a bit of heavy duty grease. to get a good deal on air line tickets. At the request of my manager I've postponed this trip several times now. I was at one point scheduled to be off the 1st week in Sept and here it is I'm finally off the last week in Nov. Only by very hard work did I get caught up sufficiently to take off. So flying's out. Besides I've had my experiences with flying, the bad weather delays and such and I'veby MarcW - Main Forum
all the way to Walnut Creek from Livermore today on the first leg of my drive back to the mid-west to visit my folks. Stopped for gas and checked tire pressures. Car was feeling a bit squirrely. Right rear tire 5psi low. I filled it up to match the left rear and head down to Fresno to dealership. Service open but they don't do tires there. LSD and for my driving (from the mundane to the spirited but no track) I don't miss LSD on my cars. If one is agressive on the street, taking corners under heavier throttle that 'normal' LSD can minimize unequal tire wear between the right and left rear tires. Sans LSD the inner tire on a turn can spin as the outer tire transfers torque to the inner tire. I'm aware of this shortcoming of a non-Lby MarcW - Main Forum

the SM told me the tire N issue is tire distributor related. He named a tire distributor -- the name escapes me -- that guaranteed to be able to supply matching N rated tires for a while (I forget how long) or supply the matching N rated tires at no cost, say if one came in and had to replace less than 4 of his car's existing tires. And the SM told me this tire distributor recently withdrew theby MarcW - Main Forum
