It is only through understanding of the probabilities that peace of mind is achievedby Boxsterra - Main Forum
Cost of not replacing: $0 Likelihood of failure: <1% Cost of replacing bearing: $2.5k Cost of replacing engine: $5k Expected loss (paranoid): $2,500 Expected loss (drive and enjoy): 0.01 * 5,000 = $50 --- You can dispute the exact numbers but the outcome remains the same.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
that people who are worried about IMS bearing failure are willing to pay more. I do however question that that constitutes anything but a negligible percentage of the Porsche buying community, most of whom aren't on the internet forums. A lot of people are. Most aren't.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
When this thread was last active, the price was around $1k, which was a great deal. Not anymore, unfortunately.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
The listing prices are most reflective of the seller's belief of the car's worth and less of the actual value. For example, people who have replaced their IMS bearing mistakenly believe that the internet community is representative of the general Porsche buying public and overprice their cars, not realizing that bearing replacement makes little to no difference to most people.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
That angle really captures the curves of the carby Boxsterra - Main Forum
That isn't all that much of a price increase over the early Boxsters. My 1999 MY was $55k in 1998, which would be $88k in 2021 dollars and certainly the GTS 4.0 is a much better car, aside from the cluttered buttons interiorby Boxsterra - Main Forum

It was actually surprisingly easy and I like the way it looks better than any of the ones I've seen for sale.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
I had a nice metal-knob shifter and found it often got too hot to touch (parked car, top up). I eventually tired of having to wrap a towel around it to get started and took it out.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
and that you have to carefully pry it off with a small flat head screwdriverby Boxsterra - Main Forum
The shift cable linkages are much more prone to problems than the cables themselves. And the linkages can be separately replaced (though for some reason they seem to have gone way up in price). Yellowing of the headlight lenses is a somewhat common problem.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
There are about 10 good pizza places closer to where I live than my car is.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
I really liked the way they looked but once I drove it, I was sold.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
If you include more details (like specifically what happens when you try to start the car and it doesn't start and what code you got) then we may be able to help you. It sounds like you have a leak in the evap system, which is inside the fender just under the gas cap. The code would narrow it down.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
you didn't include a pic of the part I was showing. Regardless, the car won't start without a RFID pill present.by Boxsterra - Main Forum
