Had that gracing the tail of mine till a few months ago. Even had the PPBB webaddress on some calling cards I'd drop to try and spread the word on the occasional Boxster I'd see in my travels. Just redid those the other day.by mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
I'll grant you the '03-04 has advantages. But when you are talking price, you have to use the "it doesn't matter" to me tactic and show em what you claim to consider comparables. If it works and they adjust their thinking because of the competition, you win. Doesn't, you go on to the next car. And it won't if they have an inflated notion of what their car is worth...some people are like that. Doeby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
is another well priced example. For the difference you could stop by Cleveland GA on the way back and get your IMSR done.by mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
because I was listening to a financial analysis of CarMax's quarterly results the other day. The average spread between cost and selling price was $2,100. I have this notion I could beat that easy if I was patient and it would almost buy an IMS.by mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
Compare to this price the '02's pricing may sound reasonable to him. But show him this ad ($15k asking for an S). Say that is what you have to judge against. When I bought my first, I had 5 low ball priced printouts of ads I took to convince the seller that my -$3k offer was good. It worked. I was surprised as big an area as Philly didn't have many more private sale Boxsters on Craigslist.by mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
It all depends on the price. At a low enough price, the reward may outweigh the risk. Maybe appropriate only to those who don't mind risk...can afford it financially and emotionally. And I say that not to put others down but to say that you should understand that different people are in different situations and there isn't a one size fits all. that you might expect Porsche owners to take better care of their cars than lesser priced makes? Since this inspection is like our safety/emissions inspections, it isn't like they stopped a random number of cars on the road or factored in the number/expense of trips to a repair facility. Though with that theory you'd expect to see BMW and MB on the listby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
As I used to go there too. is a list several years old but you might check the Chantilly location out by phone or with some fellow P-car folk. I found my indie by just visiting and wandering around and talking to the mechanic...which I like do do removing the write-up filter between owner and the guy who really knows what he found in your car.by mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
You are faced with a bill for $3+K. Which means spending $40-70 on a code reader to get the exact codes is what I call a noise level expense. Actron is a typical brand. Reading codes is trivial, plug the gadget in by your left knee and push the on button and read the screen basically. Once you have the code(s), post them here and people who have the factory manuals will be glad to list the posby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
if these are to really be all 4 seasons tires or just all season changeovers for the winter season only....gonna buy wheels too? What size? If they are to be winter only, then your driving miles will have them age out before they wear out. Yesterday it was Boxster in 43 degree weather on PS2s. Today at 33 and snow it was the CRV on Hydro Edge all seasons. But I can't see them on a P-car. And yby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
Caution on the maintenance required to keep the black looking good. When it does, great. I'd prefer '03 over '02 just for styling and usability touches. I have had a big screen for 20+ years. Bought one of the ~48" RCA (dates me) 3-gun TVs that bounced the signal off a mirror attached to the folding door and thence to a curved screen. It was in the basement where the kids wore out the tapes (dates me) watching Star Wars. Bought it from a store going out of business for $100 more than a 25" TV went for at the time. They didn't sell any because theby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum

I have 3 flat screen TVs. On the oldest and largest, a 65", I have the full multi-speaker surround sound set up with very good quality component equipment. When I first got it, I played with it as a new toy. Moved it into the new house, had speaker wires built into the house to accommodate it. Tested it once, haven't bothered to turn it on since. I've seen demos of the 3D in the stores. Fun forby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
I bought a little 4WD just so I could own the Boxster. I lived there for about 64 years (!) and can recall snow drifts over my house, 30" snows, blizzards, etc and yet many years when it didn't snow at all or just a dusting. DC is just on the edge of the jet stream which makes weather predicting a chancy thing and gives a lot of variety. the reviews of the '05 987 when it came out and figure if all those improvements were enough to justify my buying the more expensive car. Once I'd settled that in my mind, I'd try not to focus on one car (unless it is just the perfect location/color/option/condition) and look at several examples if they are available where you live. I think there is some wiggle room in both those prices. They maby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum

Today was the day to drop off the holiday cakes to some neighbors. First stop is to a wonderful couple 95 and 90 years old. He plays golf with me every couple of months. She is sharp as a tack. A quick merry Xmas and I'm on my way. Next stop is to another older couple, she with some health issues. Enough so they are moving to assisted living next month. How old was the hardtop? Is the squeak near the windshield or in back near the engine cover? Have you done anything to the rubber seals to make them more supple...like GummiPflege them? Adjusted the spinlocks so the hardtop makes slightly different contact?by mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum

encourage misspelled, uncapitalized, curt messages? My impression is that the quality of messages go down when posted that way on other forums...or I could be jumping to the conclusion that that was the source of the messages from their sloppy content. In the case of this URL, I did paste it in the message text, it got turned into the same partial URL as if I had used the button on the toolbar. I ask because I own a 4 cyl CRV and it calls for the 0W20, I filled it once with some Mobil1 0W40 I no longer used in the Boxster but didn't know if that was bad or not. Change it at 3k irrespective of the mfgr's recommendation.by mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum

I'd preface this post by saying my current ideal Boxster in the configurator is a $94k Boxster. I don't want to think what my ideal 911 would be. Seems to me if they aren't going to kill the revenue stream, they have to pretty much move the Boxster up-market to where the 911 is now if they are going to make em look alike (Cayman) and perform alike (or better). Yes that leaves room at the bottomby mikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC - Main Forum
on PPBB I had selected some sort of option that, when I logged on, the messages that were at the top of the forum were the new posts and ones I had already read that had new replies. I can't seem to duplicate that on the new s/w. It may have been a function where the PPBB s/w used cookies and I was reconnecting without a log in and directly to a forum rather than to the way we do now.
