Maybe GM will be able to sell some of them to their target market. But still... why build a POS car when they can do so much better? Are the bean counters back in charge again? While reading that article, I clicked on a link to this interesting review of the Targa, now equipped with the flat-6 Turbo.by Roger987 - Main Forum
That's interesting, Bill. Maybe it's just some kind of wonky tire thing. I've had alignments done where the wheel ended up being slightly off center. The car tracked straight and true. I ended up carefully adjusting the tie rod ends myself, to get it where I wanted it. Some (most?) people wouldn't even notice the off centre wheel, or if they did, they wouldn't care. I'm not sure who is better oby Roger987 - Main Forum
Quotegrant Changing tires has no effect on either alignment or steering wheel. I guess you realize that from the question. Only possible answer: someone touched something Maybe the ghost of Jim Morrison was hiding in the frunk.by Roger987 - Main Forum
That's a weird one, for sure. If the car were pulling to one side, I'd suspect the concept known as 'radial pull'. (you can Google it). But with the car tracking straight when your hands are off the steering wheel, and the s. wheel tilted in the same direction after having swapped the wheels side to side, I'm baffled. Like Grant, I'm inclined to think it's something mechanical. As you pointedby Roger987 - Main Forum
It's not clear from the original post whether the driver has to hold the steering wheel askew, to keep the car going straight, or if the car tracks straight, with his hands off the wheel (and that the steering wheel, left alone, is askew). From his post, I inferred it is the latter.by Roger987 - Main Forum
You're right - the linked article includes that as one of the factors leading to higher consumption: "A turbocharger changes the picture. Because it compresses the incoming air, the fuel injection system automatically adds more fuel to keep the mixture at the correct ratio. And this is where the problems begin. As the pressure in the combustion chambers rises, you run the risk of pre-ignition (by Roger987 - Main Forum
You're a lucky guy - you have the best of Germany's and the USA's sports cars. There are a number of styling cues of your 2008 which I prefer over the current design. Electric steering - kudos to Porsche for engineering a system that isn't 'numb'. In all other electric steering cars I've driven, I really miss hydraulic assist.by Roger987 - Main Forum
QuoteLaz Of the two models in the photo, the one in foreground may be quicker (and likely have more effective stopping power, as well). The Chevette was a shining example of just how well GM could do EVERYTHING wrong.by Roger987 - Main Forum
You're right. The Miata is a fun car. I think that, in its class, it's at the very top. But the Boxster is truly in a different class, and I'm not referring simply to prestige (though that element can't be denied). The Z4 is a decent 'sporty' car, but its trunk disappeared when BMW swapped the ragtop for the folding metal roof, rendering the car almost useless as a long-distance runner. That reviewer's displeasure with the 718's sound is shared by the reviewer in The Telegraph, the link to which I posted here: Interestingly, the written review in The Telegraph seems to have been been very recently changed. Gone are the following remarks by the reviewer: "Like a moustache on the Mona Lisa, it kind of gets in the way" And: ...there are two messages here: the old six-cylindeby Roger987 - Main Forum
IF the software generates those numbers, it's impressive. I think it's possible Porsche left a few ponies on the table, not wanting to encroach on 911 turf. BUT, although the original (factory) software can be reinstalled, Porsche may be able to ascertain that different software had been installed. Apparently, there's some sort of flash counter built into the ECU which keeps track of this. Thereby Roger987 - Main Forum

Cobalt blue is stunning. If I recall correctly, one of the Canadian participants at BRBS a few years ago brought his cobalt blue 987S - it, like yours, is a head-turner.by Roger987 - Main Forum

"Like a moustache on the Mona Lisa, it kind of gets in the way" And: ...there are two messages here: the old six-cylinder engine will be missed by your heart at least as much as the new four-cylinder motor will be welcomed by your head, and while the result is a more capable but less charming car, for those who love to drive it is still the best in its class, by a reduced but still significantby Roger987 - Main Forum

shame about the "monotone blare". Boys and girls, I'm beginning to see (or more accurately, 'hear') a theme in the 718 road tests.by Roger987 - Main Forum

I agree about the sound - that the .2 sounded quite decent, and that's probably because it's a 6 cylinder. The sound inside the cabin was much like the .1. Outside, the turbo was audible, but I didn't mind it. The acceleration - I can't help but think that the .1 was in the wrong (too low) gear. In the second comparison, the .1 appeared to be in a more appropriate gear. No question, with the loby Roger987 - Main Forum
