Summer finally came back to the other Washington today, from the gates of he!!. My top has been up for almost a week due to very hot and extremely humid temps. I usually put my top down even into the mid 90s, but this past week the humidity was simply unbearable. It's always a great feeling to pop the top after a spell of encasted driving. It'll cure what ails you, that for sure.by db997S - Main Forum

at Talledega. He was going 160+ mph and the car rotated five times, but he did not hit anything. This was back in 2005 where Porsche was trying to set some closed track land speed records. Leno was going from a start. The professional Driver (David Donahue) said after seening the skid marks on the pavement, something along the lines of "I'd hate to be that guy." The show was a good way to kiby db997S - Main Forum

about 10 years ago, my wife was backing out of our driveway and hit a realtor's car parked on the street holding an open house. She went in, told the realtor and gave her our insurance company information. She put a nice dent in the fender. The realtor never contacted our insurance company. Strange things happen. On the plus side, the longer this dude waits to do anything about this, the lesby db997S - Main Forum
Yes, he said recall and not TSB. Eventhough car is working perfectly fine (starts up immediately and no hesitation under demand). I guess I should bring it back once the part comes in (about 2 week backlog). That's what's killing me, what if the new fuel pump is defective? The radio wasn't working, but when the Tech was looking at it, the sound just popped on. So, Porsche has a new softwareby db997S - Main Forum
is looking to produce such a car, according to Internet rumors, based on comments made by Matthias Mueller. While it wouldn't be a retro car, it would be based on the 550 Sypder that James Dean was driving when he died. Also, Porsche is supposedly upping its R&D budget by 50%. Could be lots of interesting things happening in Germany as VW wants to get total Porsche sales up to 200,000 in aby db997S - Main Forum
If you win, put a lein on his/hers house, of they own, to force payment. Heck, check the other insurance company, too, as maybe there's a grace period where there is in a sense, some sort of phantom coverage/cooling off period, where the individual was technically still covered. A real bummer, though. Check with local authorities, maybe get them hit with a ticket/fine for driving an uninsuredby db997S - Main Forum
Yeah, looks like he has the brush grill cover (which may also be dinged up a bit) and all the bells and whistles. Now, if it was already a somewhat beater of a pickem up truck, that might be a different story. My guess is, that unless he's hurting for cash, he'd want it fixed right. Good luck on the offer.by db997S - Main Forum
Ummm, I've been in this world now for almost 50 years and have never known of Andy's car until this post, but with Janis Joplin's ride being housed in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, I think more of the world knows of hers, many of whom probably don't even know that is is a Porsche.by db997S - Main Forum
A big factor for me, is what's your deductible? Was the other person in the car when it happened (potential for additional liablility if claims injury)? What kind of car was it (deminishing value or whatever that thing is called)? Lots of factors come into play to decide if you should call or not. If you do call your agent, find out how long after an accident you have to make a claim. My feaby db997S - Main Forum
isn't working due to a fuse or something else. It was working perfectly fine on the way home from a long roadtrip yesterday. Hoped in to go home today for lunch today and the radio wasn't working. Same for the way back to the office. I'm at work and don't have time to check the fuse and will do so when I get home for the day, but thought I'd ask if anyone knows a quick way to diagnose. Great, tomorrow I leave for a 400 mi (800 mi roundtrip) roadtrip. My 2009 997S with DFI has 12,000 miles on it. I hope they don't replace the HPFP since--knock on wood--it's been running fine.by db997S - Main Forum
I'd start doing some research. While people call the older 911s bullet proof, like all Porsches, they have been know to have common issues during varioius production runs. Some of these are well documented. Within the past year or so, I think it was Pano Magazine that did a pretty good write up about buying older Porsches and the common problems for each model year. They were really frank aboby db997S - Main Forum

Basically, an older designed 911 from an early 90s 911, which is 400 lbs lighter due to the carbon-fiber shell replacing all the steel, but with today's technology (including Xeon headlights with the look of a 1970s P-car). The air cooled, yes, air cooled, engines are reworked to pump out anywhere from 300 to 425 hp, depending on what the customer is looking for in the car. He replaces the fiveby db997S - Main Forum
But it will pump out 350 hp. The S will stay with the 3.8 and be tweaked to an even 400hp. The rear center console will be similar to the Panamera--sloping upwards with a higher mounted shifter. The wheel base is 4 inches longer to accomodate hybrid technology in 2016. The PCM screen is also larger, think from the Pepper. The spoiler is different. It could be that the gas tank wasn't properly pressurized messing with the flow of fuel. The excess air got out of the system, and you were, literally, good to go from there.by db997S - Main Forum
It's a fictional story of a guy's life told through the narration of his dog. The guy is an avid racer (993 Porsche Super Cup, the Porsche content). It's a quick, interesting summer time read about balancing everyday life and racing desire. There's some recent racing history sprinkled in, as well as driving talks about certain tracks and races. His dog loves to watch Speed Channel. I'm aboutby db997S - Main Forum
If it were me, I'd keep the Boxster for a couple more years then look at 2009 or later 911s, due to the IMS being designed out of the engine and the DFI. I'd be hesitant to own two Porsches with IMS in the engine. If you did a lot of track days/DE/Autocross, then maybe keep one for that type of activity. Otherwise, the guilt you'd feel looking at one collecting dust isn't worth it, which youby db997S - Main Forum

In the US, I don't think gas taxes will do anything to sway folks from driving those big a$$ gas guzzlers. We like big in this country and too many people have become accustom to them. Plus, they can't sell them. Also, there are enough people with enough disposable income that they will still buy the low gas mileage SUVs and cars. Unfortunately, you need to regulate them out. Not sure if emmby db997S - Main Forum
Um, beg to differ. Maybe FDR and LBJ would agree with you. Taxes are not the answer to all. Heck, look at Greece and the riots in the streets because the government there once again increased taxes to pay for their debt. Higher gas tax will have a negative ripple effect throughout the greater economy. Higher gas prices will increase just about everything we use in this country, including theby db997S - Main Forum

Interesting thread. I've wondered about Indy vs Dealer. My thought is that since a dealer deals in volume, then their techs have basically seen it all. Yeah, when my car is out of warranty, I may find a indie, most are not convient to me and mass transit, to do the general work, like oil/filter changes, annual check ups, etc, but if something is going wrong and isn't obvious, a dealer, while mby db997S - Main Forum
I wish I could tell you. I'm an old fart and prefer the old ways of one plate, one state. It made it much easier to tell where a car is from. Let's say today, you witness an event and you can't get a plate number, in the old days you'd atleast be able to say it was a Grey Camry from Florida. Now, it's just a grey Camry from who knows where.by db997S - Main Forum
