When I did a Porsche factory tour several years ago I noted that when the upper chassis is married with the lower chassis with the suspension and engine, the overflow tank is already in place on the upper chassis. No wonder it is so hard to get at! Since that is how they manufacture the car, it is no problem for Porsche - at least until it needs to be replaced. Good luck!by jg wnc - Main Forum
Car is back from the body shop. Good as new! Final tally was $28K and it took 8 weeks! I have enjoyed a couple of nice spring drives in the WNC mountains and the BRP, and looking forward to many more.by jg wnc - Main Forum

Glad you are able to get out and that the weather is improving. Exactly a month ago, just before the stay-at-home orders went in place, I joined a group of PCA buddies for a drive on some Western NC mountain roads. The weather was nice and the top was down too. Unfortunately, I had a small deer run out in front of my car and I hit it and killed it. There was damage to the front bumper, dentedby jg wnc - Main Forum
That plus eyes getting older. I had this complaint with the monthly SCCA magazine. They changed they artistic layout of the magazine and made the text size smaller with huge wide margins and photo captions were done with a light gray print on the white background. It made the whole thing almost impossible to read. I am not sure what artistic designers are thinking. Sure works to promote onliby jg wnc - Main Forum
Social distancing is providing time to do some routine maintenance. On the 981, Porsche service schedule calls for changing spark plugs at 4 years or 40K miles. So it is time for new plugs for my 2016 981 Boxster GTS, even though it only has 10K miles. I got the plugs from Pelican Parts for $55 (this is the Bosch version that had a Porsche part number on the box, as opposed to the official Porschby jg wnc - Main Forum

I fiddled around with my Durametric, and it does not do the coding. The MaxSpeed OBDII coding tool is quick, easy, and foolproof.by jg wnc - Main Forum
I rented their tool. The programming step using their tool is very fast and very easy. It took me less than 5 minutes to do the programming. They only have a limited number of them, so I had to wait a couple of weeks to receive it, but the unit was programmed and camera installed in less than a week after I received it.by jg wnc - Main Forum
I installed a Back Up Camera on my 981 Boxster GTS over the last couple of days. The unit is from Maxspeed Motorsports in Florida. Total time for the installation was around 5 hours with me stopping frequently and testing to make sure that everything worked as I did the install. When I ordered my car in 2015, the only way to get a back up camera was to order the Park Assist option, which was at lby jg wnc - Main Forum
Great trip Guenter. Did you manage to get a factory tour in? If not, you have a reason to go back!by jg wnc - Main Forum

I had a problem with sticking cup holders on my old 2002 S. I ended up buying a bunch of dashboard parts including cup holders from someone that was tearing into their upper console. I would suggest checking with some of the Porsche dismantlers and pick up the parts used.by jg wnc - Main Forum
The leather covered side panels on the upper center console just pop straight out. I ran the wire out the front on the bottom of the upper center console right at the seam where the side panel meets the upper center console. I mounted a phone holder on the side panel too and the cable connects to the phone in the same area.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Was with a 20 year Porsche salesperson at a PCA function last night. He had just run the configurator and ordered a GT4 for a customer. He was mentioning that there was no information out about the 2020 Boxster and Cayman, which caused some speculation about what the future holds for these models, particularly around electrification. He speculated that Porsche would be allowing more GT4’s anby jg wnc - Main Forum
The regulator is easy - have one of those on my compressor. More interested in the cap that screws on to the reservoir. What did you use? I can see that the air fitting was mounted to it. Nice hack!by jg wnc - Main Forum
That’s pretty cool. Where did you get it? Looks like the pressure was set pretty low, like 5 psi maybe?by jg wnc - Main Forum
Since I seem to have had the shortest commute, I felt like I needed to get a taste of BRP as part of BRBS. On the way home today, we picked it up at its southern terminus off US 441 just north of Cherokee, NC and took it to US 74/Smoky Mountain Expressway which is only 10 minutes from my home. It was a nice leisurely drive stuck behind a slow car, but didn’t really care. The detour onto theby jg wnc - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
Pedro, congrats on the move and downsizing. It is a difficult decision, but it will be rewarding as you will be closer to your children and grandchildren. Good luck with the move - it is definitely stressful.by jg wnc - Main Forum

The second Luft Wasser was yesterday in Brevard, NC. Perfect weather for a drive on the twisties where we staged at Brevard High School and then paraded into downtown Brevard led by a police escort. There were some interesting and unusual Porsches across many era’s. Great fellowship and great cars made for an amazing day.
