Galdalf The Gray, my seal gray 2002 S went to a new owner yesterday after 12 magical years with me including 10 BRBS', He has gone to a new owner in North Carolina who is a Porsche fan, owns an air cooled 911, and hopefully will join this community. I am Porsche-less for the time being. The dealer tells me that my new 981 GTS will arrive around November 20. I will experience Boxster withdrawlby jg wnc - Main Forum
If you want speedster humps, then you buy a Spyder. Do you happen to know if the motion sensor is turned off with the top down and the car locked? If so, there could be a market for an enterprising individual to make a Clip for a 981.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Any 981 owners know if a red clip from a 986 will work on a 981 (Obviously this is only for the Boxster, not the Cayman)? Will it even fit? Or does the 981 give you an option to turn the motion sensors on with the top down without using the red clip to trick it.by jg wnc - Main Forum
The ECU - Engine Control Unit, is located in the rear trunk, up high. I suspect in jiggling wires that you got a connector misaligned. Suggest exposing the ECU and firmly re-seating all connections.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Replaced with sport exhaust many years ago. Will entertain reasonable offers. PM me if you are interested.by jg wnc - Parts for Sale
I am envious. I am sure it is a permagrin experience all over again. Have fun driving it. Mine is due at the dealer in November........ hopefully it will arrive sooner.by jg wnc - Main Forum
that they had to do some horse trading to get in the first place. I did get a call from the other dealer in ATL that they had a couple of Boxster/Cayman GTS slots available. I finally have some better idea of dates. Very conservatively build will be complete by early October and arrive at US Port mid November and at dealer around Thanksgiving. Very likely will be sooner than that. Waiting...by jg wnc - Main Forum
Though not confirmed, projected build in September with delivery in October.by jg wnc - Main Forum
More experience than luck. Good for you! I am told that there have been no GTS build slots allocated for 2016's and that I am first in line when they are allocated. I have no idea how many GTS orders they need to have to schedule production, but I presume that is what I am waiting on. The whole thing seems pretty passive to me, and I have tried to encourage the sales rep and the dealer to maby jg wnc - Main Forum
Congrats Jeff. I can't even get a projected build date for my GTS that that has been on order for 7 weeks. Not having much luck finding out anything from Porsche or the dealer. Bummer!by jg wnc - Main Forum
They have the outright speed. Let's hope that they have the reliability to win. So far, that has not been the case in The Return. Gonna be an interesting and exciting 24 hours!by jg wnc - Main Forum
I ordered a GTS, so maybe that accounts for the difference.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Do you have a confimed build date yet? I placed my order on May 14, and no build date yet. Projecting 90-120 days, but that is just a shot in the dark until a build date is allocated. We are probably on a very similar schedule. Like your color choices (hence my Seal Gray 02S that I am probably going to trade in). Let's keep each other posted as we find out more info.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Pretty good deal, but I like my spec better. This one is a slightly higher MSRP - hard to tell what they added that I didn't - for sure the wheels that I don't really like. And the selling price is about the same as mine. But it would be a good data point, if I hadn't already signed the paperwork.by jg wnc - Main Forum
i have used speed bleeders and actually like them. they work just fine and you don't have all the cleanup assoiciated with the power bleeder.by jg wnc - Main Forum
This is exactly the reason that I just placed my order. I have zero interest in a Boxster with a turbo 4. I was afraid that they might be coming as 2016 models, but it looks like they will actually be 2017 models. Whew!!!!!by jg wnc - Main Forum
I was taking my 02S in to get the emissions inspection done, and it decides to dump its coolant all over the road. Guess it knew its days with me were numbered. I expected the problem to be one of the ususal suspects - coolant tank or water pump, but it turned out to be a water valve that sits on top of the tiptronic tranny had busted apart. That sucker was almost impossible to get to. Thankby jg wnc - Main Forum
Sounds like a good excuse to cut one loose!by jg wnc - Main Forum
Consumer Reports piece on hacking the electronics in cars. Interesting.......by jg wnc - Main Forum
I did have some misgivings about not ordering a Porsche in silver, and GT silver is gorgeous. I think I am getting the same wheels as those - are those 20" Carrera S wheels? They look great on your car!by jg wnc - Main Forum
Thanks Guenter! I acctually want to ride in your car sometime at BRBS. As expected, the dealer has no cars in stock anywhere near that spec, so I configured based on your input to this forum and very positive reviews from magazines. The dealer is one of the highest volume Boxster dealers in the U.S., and at this time they have no build slots for 2016 Boxsters, so it is a bit early to start losby jg wnc - Main Forum
Didn't get as much discount at ff42 (btw, the number I ran for 15 years on my FF was 44), but at least it was some concession. No date yet for build or delivery of a 2016. Here's the specs: 2016 Boxster GTS Triple Brown (Mahogany Metallic/Espresso Natural Leather/Brown Top) Manual Transmission Sport Suspension 18 Way Sport Seats with Heating and Ventilation (part of Premium Package Plus) Infotaby jg wnc - Main Forum
There are 2 dealers in ATL and I have contacted both. One of them messed up the initial contact and has been aggressive in wanting to make it up to me. We'll see. And the other is quoting a June build for July delivery of a 2016 model. I believe that the configurator has been updated for 2016's. If I don't like what I hear from the local guys, then I will cast my net wider. Thanks for the iby jg wnc - Main Forum
I am looking at ordering a new Boxster GTS. Sales rep is telling me that there is no price discount for GTS'. IMHO this is BS as the GTS is primarily a packaging exercise with a couple extra stickers and a couple extra plastic bits on the front and back. I seem to recall that others have been able to negotiate 5-7% discounts from MSRP on ordered Boxsters. If anyone has ordered a new car receby jg wnc - Main Forum
Enjoy driving and enjoy the permagrin. My interest in a new generation Boxster just went up a couple more notches........by jg wnc - Main Forum
Spent some time with a local dealer last week. 2015 Boxster slots are gone. Does have a 2016 build slot for July delivery. So this seems to answer the question that the turbo 4's won't happen until 2017. Also I had some configs on the Porsche site and when I went to open one of the up the other day, I was asked if I wanted to update the model year. So it sounds like Porsche is keeping the 98by jg wnc - Main Forum
Does the turbo 4 come out as a 2016 or 2017 model? This is starting to have an impact on my thinking about picking up a new Boxster. I have zero interest in a turbo 4, no matter how good it might be.by jg wnc - Main Forum
