My rules for brake fluid storage.
If it's opened, use it that day and properly dispose of the remnants. If it's in its original undamaged, iuntendented d package (can) it will last three years or longer. The reason it's in a metal can is to make it harder for the water molecules to penetrate. Most of the top brands are also packaged under nitrogen.
