Agree that it is not a cost savings idea to buy new. However, I would be bet that the total cost of ownership over a 5 year period is closer than you think when you add in repairs and depreciation. That being said, let's face it, we don't buy P-cars just for transportation, and there is an element of fun involved with buy, driving and owning a new and different car. So, it is all part of the cost/benefit equation.
