If you're thinking of attending, make sure you book your room right away. Apparently there are still a few rooms available at the Ridges Resort where the event is centered. Make sure you tell them that you're attending BRBS to get the BRBS discounted room rate.

The official BRBS events run Thursday, May 30 - Sunday, June 2, 2019. There will be an extra day event on May 30th, so if you want to take part in that, you should book a room starting Wednesday, May 29

There's a 7 mile section closed from mile marker 298 (about 6 mi. south of Blowing Rock) to mile marker 305 (Grandfather Mountain entrance). It's scheduled to reopen on May 25th. Let's hope they stay on schedule, so it won't affect any BRBSers

I also bought some water-less car wash spray from Griot's Garage and tried it out last night. The car had a coating of light dust and pollen, and the super plush microfiber towels that came with the kit did a great job of cleaning the car - without any scratching or swirling. I was nervous, but tried it on a small area first. The key is use the high-lubricant spray liberally, and to rub lightly in one direction - turning the towels frequently (8 folds to a towel). I followed with a quick detail (Speed Shine) wipe down. I even used the wash on the wheels. The car looked great and no water was used. I plan on using it at our cabin (walking distance to Switzerland Inn), which may not provide bucket and hose access - although the forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms and showers every single day of BRBS. Maybe the early arrivers can do a non-rain dance?

The schedule:
Sunday, May 29th arrive in Front Royal, VA. Rooms booked at Hampton Inn.
Monday, May 30th take Skyline Drive through Shenandoah NP and then start the north end of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Have booked a room at Hampton Inn in Salem, VA near Roanoke
Tuesday take mainly BRP to Little Switzerland. Dropped the hammer for a second and caught up to: A Boxster towing a trailer! Low and behold who do I see driving? Non other than the infamous Pedro himself! Rolled down the window and shouted some greetings to him and then passed by...he tucked right into the back of our little southward bound caravan!

Pretty cool!

We ducked off onto 295/I10 and Pedro kept heading south on 95.
