I have 2007 (987) 2.7l with a 6 speed manual transmission with 107,000 miles on original clutch. My dring type is non agrevive/smooth with 60% highway 40% city. My Porsche indy mechanic sais that my clutch is “self adjusting type” and when the clutch goes it goes without much warning. Is this true? And how can you tell or test to see if your clutch needs replacement. Right now it shifts fine and no slipping. The same holds true for the fluid. As it becomes more contaminated, the clutch pedal will gradually lose its ability to release the clutch.

I recommend you bleed the clutch when changing the brake fluid. It's a simple job.

When the clutch starts to go, you'll feel the RPMs rise while he speed doesn't as you accelerate in a high gear (5th/6th).
