I'm in the midst of replacing the head unit with a BOSS BE7ACP.WCX; I'm thinking of replacing the 25 year old front speakers as well. I really don't want to rewire anything, so I'm leaving the amp in the frunk alone. A - will I get better sound? B - anyone have a specific pair of speakers they'd suggest? I know I'll need to buy an 'adapter kit' since I don't want to attack the original speaker with a dremel tool. Your head unit has a 4 channel 85 W per channel amp that you could use to drive the speakers. The dash speakers are the only full range speakers in the car.

The actual dash speakers are small and will make some difference but not a lot. It is totally possible to make a bracket to fit any similarly sized speakers up there.

It's entirely likely that your new head unit has a better amplifier than the stock Porsche one, which is IMO poor.
