It is sad that car manufacturers have to add all this fake stuff. And even more so with Porsche, which in the past had stressed their goal of delivering a pure driving experience. I'm sure that when Ferdinand Porsche said, "I couldn't find the sports car of my dreams, so I built it myself", this fake stuff isn't what he had in mind.

Who knows. This seems to me to be something of an "image relic", by which I mean that the Porsche image of manual transmission and high performance (revs) seems to be an enticement for newbies to feel good, and to feel part of the heritage.
