I followed the plastic tube that is present above the location of the drip. There is a clip that fastens this tube to the underbody panel. This tube goes under the spare tire well, then is seen again near the battery at the firewall. It goes through the firewall, where I assume it connects to the housing holding the evaporator (where condensate would be present for the AC system).

I have not seen any more liquid dripping from the under-car location since my long drive, even though I have used the AC.

Well I finally did it. Rented a 911 Cab at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart and spend 5 day in the Swiss Alps.
Drove over 750 miles with over 1,200 curves, 180 hair pins on 9 mountain passes: Susten Pass, Grimsel Pass, Furka Pass, Gotthard Pass, San Bernardino Pass, Julier Pass, Bernina Pass, Stelvio pass, Fuorn Pass.
Unfortunately on my last day at Stelvio pass (+10,000 ft) we were hit with lightning and thunderstorm at 44f,, so I had to take it slow on "wet mode":S

And before anyone asks, Yes the PDK is very, very good in the mountains but only in sport mode. Any other fluid will have different characteristics (coolant is sweet smelling and slippery, power steering fluid is a clear light oil, engine oil will be dark colored oil, automatic transmission fluid is foul smelling oily, brake fluid is oily and irritates skin.

The triggers can be time/temperature/ozone/other contaminants, etc.
The foam that was used (because of environmental regulations) will not last forever and will deteriorate.
I've seen that most FL cars (986/996) have already lost all of the foam, as of a few years ago, so I tend to agree with those that say that at least hot is not the best environment for the foam. I'm no venturing a guess on humidity or lack thereof.
The good thing is that there are cures for the deteriorating foam and if you dread it, you can preemptively repair.

I live in the Pacific Northwest, where it can be humid. I was told that this wet air could accelerate the deterioration of the sealing foam and make the problem worse. So I bought a dehumidifier for my garage and kept the air below 35% humidity. Now I'm hearing that humid air is a good thing and can prevent the deterioration. It's dry air and hot tempratures in states like Arizona and Nevada that cause the foam bits to break down. Which is true? Rather than run the USB-C up and around the whole front glass, I'm thinking of buying one of these:

My thought is to tie into the courtesy lights in my 2000 Boxster and connect at the top. I know that it won't work when the car is parked (I'm fine with that).

Any thought? Is there a better solution? Will there be space up there to hide this?

It is a bit heavier, so it wants to 'clunk' the plexi wind screen as I'm putting it down (the weight pulls it a bit lower), but I can easily live with that.

The ride is still noisy, but it's quieter with new (2003) top than the original plastic (2000).

Now I need 26 more years of driving for a full comparison.

It is sad that car manufacturers have to add all this fake stuff. And even more so with Porsche, which in the past had stressed their goal of delivering a pure driving experience. I'm sure that when Ferdinand Porsche said, "I couldn't find the sports car of my dreams, so I built it myself", this fake stuff isn't what he had in mind.

Who knows.
