Oil is much more expensive to extract from the oil sands than piping it out of reserves underground.

Here in Ontario, about $1.50 of the price of a gallon is tax

In Quebec, about $1.66 of the price of a gallon is tax. Then the province adds ANOTHER 14.5% on top of the total price of a gallon. (probably the cost of converting gasoline to essence.)

Then there are the gas company execs who decide they need another yacht or two, so we'll raise the price, specially, when there's storm brewing and there might be an interruption in the gas supply.

I know it's only a coincidence, but every gas station (all brands) go up in price by exactly the same amount on the same day at midnight every time. eye rolling smiley
