dash board illlumination problem

Hello everyone
noticed my analogue gauges were not lit up last evening. digital reads were normal. all of a sudden they came on. then when I restarted they were off again. Is this related to ignition switch. my car is 2002 boxster S . thanks

Any electronic gremlins could be caused by the ignition switch. Often it's more than just one electronic glitch. Have you found the key hard to turn or difficult to get out? If so, I'd say yes to it being the electronic part of the ignition switch.

If the backlights are the only problem, maybe it's a loose wire. Othere's might have more knowledge about that.
