I always forget this- which way do I rotate the engine manually? CW or CCW?????

AFAIK there's no reason why you couldn't rotate the engine in either direction...

*by hand* unless you are for instance checking/setting valve timing.

In the case of the Boxster facing the front of the engine from inside the cabin the engine turns counter clockwise. Facing the rear of the engine its direction of rotation is clockwise.
