2001 hard top on 2014 Boxster S?
kmmcdonald - Saturday, 8 June, 2013, at 12:24:59 pm
We have a 2001 hardtop from our original 2001S. It fits on our current 2003S. We are thinking of replacing the 2003S with a 2014S.

Will the 2001S hardtop fit on the 2014S?

thanks

Keith

From everything I've read (here and on the 'net generally), the only difference between the 981 and previous generations is the larger air intake on the side of the car. EVERYTHING else is identical. grinning smiley

I know the 986 top didn't fit the 987 so your "previous generations" differences can't be universal. Between the 986 and 987 the shape of the windows changed. I doubt they reverted with the emphasis on aerodynamics.
Except for a few nuts and bolts, I doubt there's anything that is interchangeable between the 981 and previous Boxster models.

How about those well researched Lloyd Mats from your 987?

With all the body (especially rear deck) changes; not likely.

The soft top overall is different. The a-pillar rake is more oblique, so its relation to the rear deck leading edge is different. The rear deck itself has been radically changed (no clamshell, higher in relation to the car's belt line.) Car's overall width is different. Wtih that, I'd think the curvature of the deck's leading edge is different. The new top's side gaps when down probably is irrelevant. Et cetera. Next time I've got the 981 next to my former 986 I'll try to do a comparison.
