One thing that Peter doesn't mention is the fact that if they get a family car with a stick shift, he'll know that none of Will's friends will ask to drive the family car.

... at home the only automatic is my wife's Lexus.
My oldest son drives a manual 6 speed VW Jetta
My second son has a manual 6 speed Subaru Impreza WRX Sti.
My daughter drives a manual 6 speed Audi A4 Turbo.
I drive my 5 speed Boxster.

1998 911 C2S, 6-speed
2006 Boxster, 5-speed
2006 Cayenne... the only automatic

It's all fun and games until we have to drive in California traffic.
