High idle after installing techno torque
Rundtinden - Tuesday, 11 March, 2014, at 4:51:36 pm
Hi! I have recently installed the techno torque on my 99 Boxster 2.5. Also installed a throttle body from a 99 996, and a high flow intake tube from the filter box. When driving everything seems fine. The car pulls strong. Good throttle response, but I experience an odd problem. When idling cold the RPM is about 900 now, and around 1100 and stable when it has reached working temp.Has checked for air leaks, and tried another idle control valve. No luck. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
... you MUST have an air leak somewhere.
First, when you installed the TechnoTorque did you install the rubber gasket from the old tee between the TechnoTorque and the throttle body?
Most people forget that one!
You may also get small air leaks because of a missing or bad gasket between the throttle body and the idle control valve.
The idle control valve may be sticking. It gets full of soot. Pull it out and liberally spray it's innards with WD-40. Cover the two openings with your fingers and shake vigorously. Drain WD-40 . Repeat until WD-40 comes out clear.
That should do it.
Happy Boxstering,

Thank you for a fast response!
I installed a new rubber gasket between the techno torque and the throttle body. Also new gasket between throttle body and idle control valve...tried both the control valve on the 996 body, and the one from the stock throttle body as well. This one functioned fine before beeing removed. Both share the same part number. Also checked the rubber sleeves ....What is the most likely location for a leak? Can this be false air from the AOS hose? Does that patent seal properly?

You can test for air leaks by ...

... using a can of starter fluid and spraying around every connection with the engine idling.
Start around both sides of the throttle body, around the rubber sleeves that secure the tee to the intake plenums, around the connections to the Air/Oil Separator, etc.
If there is a leak where you spray the idle speed will increase.
