Fuel gauge inoperative 2003 Boxster S

Fuel gauge shows empty with fuel in tank, all fuses OK & no codes.

How do I test the sender and the gauge to determine the problem?

With a PST-II computer you can activate, test and calibrate the gauge.

How do you test the sender?

The PST-II sends a signal to the gauge for various virtual levels of fuel ie: 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 4/4 and compares with the readout.

When the sender is removed from the tank, what procedure do you use to determine it is working correctly?

For example, measure float electrical resistance from low to high setting, inspect movement of float to see if corrosion or other physical resistance is present, etc.?

I have always diagnosed with the sender in place and using the PST-II computer.
I don't have any specs regarding resistance or voltage at the sender.
