Air con query
dingers - 3 years ago
Boxster 986S year 2000

Having replaced both AC condensers, desiccator, pressure line valve and expansion valve I am now getting ready to refill with refrigerant. The system has been empty, I know, at least 6 years of my ownership with both condensers thoroughly blown. I read, that I should introduce PAG 46 air conditioning lubricant oil but how much? Apparently, oil lays in the AC compressor and overfilling the oil in the system can damage it. On test the compressor clutch throws in, so as far as I can tell its ok.
My query is, the system needs a total of 195 ml /(6.6 oz), so how do you estimate the amount of oil that should now be put in and secondly how can you test the compressor is working without filling the system with refrigerant?

Any assistance and advice appreciated.
