I have two keys for my 2000 Boxster.

One key, which has been the backup pops the locks each time.

My 'main key' lights up when I press it, but no longer locks/unlocks the doors/sets the alarm.

It's my foggy recollection that this is caused by tiny breaks (or big ones) in the soldering on the key and can be repaired by clever people (I'm not clever).

Can this be defined as my problem, or could it reasonably be something else?

Does any hobbyist the collective community knows still provide this service?

Having mentally saved a fortune on my last repair, I have a couple of bucks to throw around.

Happy Holidays!

It could certainly be a crack on one of the foil connectors which is easily repairable if found.
Its could also be a bad component, such as a switch, etc.
The problem with not doing the work right next to the car is that the person won't know if it's been repaired until it works on the car.
I can usually save 50% of the ones that I see.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

Racecar spelled backwards is Racecar

"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting" ... Steve McQueen as Michael Delaney in "LeMans"

"If you wait, all that happens is that you get older"... Mario Andretti

"Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose" ... Ayrton Senna
Happy to send you the key and take my chances.

I understand the problem though - since you can't prove the negative you only 'know' that it's fixed when you try it.
