Porsche isn’t the only one; Mercedes AMG, BMW, Lexus have fake sound and Mercedes put in fake exhaust tips too.
Basically too many gimmicks on all cars manufactured. I think they are running out of stuff to put in.
I wonder if the Ferrari Luce has fake sound and tachometer.

Pedro, I think you should submit your comments to Porsche Panorama Magazine. Great conversation starter, to say the least!

you’re old! ok, maybe i am too.

It IS ridiculous, but so many wannabes might want to think they can rev and shift -- and especially in a Porsche. Even if they can not drive anything but an electric one.

This seems to me to be something of an "image relic", by which I mean that the Porsche image of manual transmission and high performance (revs) seems to be an enticement for newbies to feel good, and to feel part of the heritage.

Fake it till you make it!

I've driven CVT cars that pretend to use fixed shift gearing. It is not only unnecessary, it diminishes one of the main benefits of a CVT.

It is sad that car manufacturers have to add all this fake stuff. And even more so with Porsche, which in the past had stressed their goal of delivering a pure driving experience. I'm sure that when Ferdinand Porsche said, "I couldn't find the sports car of my dreams, so I built it myself", this fake stuff isn't what he had in mind.

Who knows. Maybe the next nostalgic Taycan option will be a PHBB (Porsche Hay Bale Box) to feed the "horses".
