And not just FL. Western NC has been nailed too. All roads are closed as a result of severe flooding. Electricity is out along with cable and cell service.by jg wnc - Main Forum
For lodging between Switzerland Inn and TOD, you can look at Asheville, though it is not that far west. Waynesville/Maggie Valley has a few places - Clarion Hotel in Maggie Valley has just been remodeled. There is a Holiday Inn Express in Dillsboro. You might also look at Harrah’s in Cherokee during the week (very expensive on the weekends). Tapoco Lodge in Robbinsville is also a good placeby jg wnc - Main Forum
I live in Waynesville, NC and there are literally tons of fabulous roads in Western NC. Besides the TOD, in our area I highly recommend: - US 276 between Waynesville and Brevard - NC 215 between Bethel and Rosman - NC 209 between Waynesville and Hot Springs (aka The Rattler or The Gambler) - Charley’s Creek Road - Wayah Road - NC 80 between BRP and Old Fort (aka Devils Whip) - You should run sby jg wnc - Main Forum
Yes it is a cool color. Glad to see that you still have it Rick!by jg wnc - Main Forum
The hot car in SCCA autocross in the Super Street class is a Tesla!by jg wnc - Main Forum
The information is still valid and VW is getting closer to making a decision from what I read.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Be careful that they don’t apply the Sport + fix if you have sport Chrono. Sounds like for PDK cars they pretty much eliminate the higher shift points in Sport +.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Hey Rev! I watched it on TV too. Much more comfortable. I no longer live in ATL, so it is a bit more difficult to get to Road Atlanta, plus I would have to impose on someone or get a hotel room. I was texting a buddy who was at the track who said the crowd was much much bigger than in years past. For awhile there, I thought the pace car was going to win the race!by jg wnc - Main Forum
The best gauge is to view action sites like Bring a Trailer. IMHO the key variable in a 986’s value is whether the IMS has been replaced. At 45k, your mileage is very low. If you have kept up with maintenance, no leaks, good leak down test, body in good shape will help.by jg wnc - Main Forum
The Appalachian Region of PCA held their weekend event in Blowing Rock at the Meadowbrook Hotel (that’s a blast from the past for the BRBS’ers in the crowd). One activity was visiting Chip Perry’s “Car Barn”. Chip used to be the CEO of Autotrader.com, and his collection of 356’s and other Porsches and VW’s is fabulous. Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go!by jg wnc - Main Forum
As the owner of a 2016 981 GTS, the GTS 4.0 is the only car in the Porsche lineup that is the least bit tempting. However I decided that trading up from 330 HP to 390 HP was not worth the extra cost. I decided to hang onto my special ordered GTS. I read a recent review of the 4.0 that mentioned there is no way to use all that power on the street. Do you plan to track the car at all? 981 pricby jg wnc - Main Forum
Just wondering if you are getting a new engine for your GTS 4.0 as part of the recall/stop sale. If so, what loner is Porsche providing for you?by jg wnc - Main Forum
That would be NC-226A aka “The Diamondback”. Awesome road, and there is no shortage of greats roads around here. The local dealer even pitches in to help:by jg wnc - Main Forum
Looks good Rev. Yep, looks a lot like Kevin Hart’s back in the day. Don’t ever give up - IIRC Harvey Templeton raced Formula Fords into his early 80’s and Paul Newman raced until he was 78/79 I think.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Also got my first top down drive of 2021 in today in WNC. Temps in mid 60’s, blue skies, sun shining. It was an awesome day to be driving a Porsche!by jg wnc - Main Forum
Went out yesterday with some PCA buddies to run some of the twisties here in WNC. On the tightest, windiest roads, I left the car in 2nd gear and it had good range for the driving I was doing. When I wanted to ease off a bit, I left it in 3rd gear, and it also had great range on plenty of torque as long as I kept the revs above 3K. Car is 981 GTS.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Also try removing the face plate, cleaning the contacts and then reinstalling.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Beautiful car! It is up on the PCNA web site with the configurator.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Nice job with the config Kieth! Small touches like the black door handles, black wheels and white rollover bars really make a striking impression. The clean butt looks really nice too. If you had left them on, the black signage would have cluttered things up. Well done!!by jg wnc - Main Forum
It is a must. I found a dead bird in my center radiator! The front grills are from Zunsport. I didn’t like the Zunsport side grills because they fit outside the plastic intake surround. On the sides, I got them from RGS who is over on Rennlist.by jg wnc - Main Forum
Awesome Keith! This is about the only car that could tempt me out of my 2016 GTS. As enticing as the car is, I think I will stick with Godiva. Looking forward to seeing the car and you at BRBS in 2021 (fingers crossed). If you get bored with the roads in your area, we have lots and lots of amazing roads in the western part of the state - come on by for a visit!by jg wnc - Main Forum
