Normally aspirated engines will not be around much longer, nor will manual transmissions. Who, EVER uses ALL the power of the 986, 981, 718 Being happy with a 981 with lots of miles is fine, but may be short sighted. What will be that cars replacement? Better enjoy an automatic with a big battery. I suggest you make the deal contingent on paying no more than MSRP, and getting no less than $38Kby Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
Unless a family member owns a Porsche dealership, MSRP is about the best you will do. If it's in stock, not ordered, you might get a bit off. The 4.0 GTS is a spectacular car....good luck!by Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
Please accept our sincere apology for the delay of your eagerly awaited 718 (GTS/GT4/Spyder), as well as the delay in providing details about the process that will finally get this car into your garage. Since our last communication, we have been working diligently with our Porsche AG colleagues to develop a solution which will give you the highest level of confidence in the quality and durabilityby Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
The worldwide total is almost 1,000 cars, and what happens to the cars sitting in ports and at dealers is far from settled. I'm hoping they all get new engines. The teardown to replace connection rods is a major task, and beyond the scope of many dealers and port repair shops. I for one, would always have a concern about the quality of the rebuild, and I wouldn't accept one. Resale would probablyby Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario According to NHTSA, there is a total of 190 cars involved. All built between Jan. 26 and March 4, 2021. The details and break-down of vehicles / models affected are listed here. So not confusing the count, the 190 covers the USA; Canada another 91 or so, and about 800 more around the world.by Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
It's a painful problem, with most buyers in limbo. Porsche has been very uncommunicative to buyers and dealers to date. All affected engines are NOT being replaced. This is what was said: "Porsche spokesperson declined to specify the delivery delay for those who have not yet received their vehicles, but on an online Porsche forum, Rennlist.com, one purchaser of the 718 Cayman GT4 posted a letteby Gary in SoFL - Main Forum

I could be happy with either, but probably more happy with a loooong geared MANual, than a Looooong geared PDK. Yes, there are expensive, after market, transmission gear replacement solutions for the "issue", but why?by Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
I can 'live' with that, or get a PDKby Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
For what it's worth..... If you desire a new ICE Boxster or Cayman, move quickly.by Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
QuoteSteveJ (2010 987 base, manual trans) Then, there are the "cheater" manuals which allow automatic rev matching on downshift. I have one of those, brand new Cayman T sitting in the garage waiting for the weather to change. Don't be surprised if that Cayman T gets impatient, wanting to be used as was intended, and sneaks out a few times.by Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
Especially for G-man, even if it's only six months a year.by Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
I've owned two 911's, a 1973 Targa and a 2013 base. They both gave the impression of being built stronger than a Boxster or Cayman, both I don't believe they are. What they are, IMO, is heavier, with a more muted engine and additional soundproofing. As for Dennis1 and Dennis2; they just like to confuse us.by Gary in SoFL - Main Forum
Sorry I wasn't there to block for you Pedro, but wonderful that you had a hard hood and a harder head. The scar may slow your budding TV commercial ad career. Just like high performance flying, low performance, summer only, Boxster cruising, and rally racing.....the aging process somethings gives us a slow down message.
