QuoteGuenter in OntarioGas stations in Southern states (Georgia, Florida) make it tough to buy gas. Gas pumps require ZIP code for pay at the pump, so foreigners have to stand in line twice at the counter. Once to authorize and then again to pay/get receipt. PITA and time wasting. have you ever tried putting in 5 random digits? i think i tried that with my canadian credit card a while backby frogster - Main Forum
sometimes the line going down to the US can be two-hours long since the US agents want to know where you're going, why, how long you're staying, what you do for a living, your zodiac sign, shoe size, blood type, favorite movie, etc. Multiply this by the thousands of people crossing the border and it adds up to a slow process.by frogster - Main Forum
man, i thought spring was taking a long time to get here but at least we don't have SNOW!!!!by frogster - Main Forum

i've crossed the border to the US and back quite a few times now. No problem. Like others have said here they ask you the purpose of your trip, how long, where you're staying etc. no big deal. the biggest hassle is that the border wait can be hours long sometimes. would be a good idea to time the border crossing to a non busy period. also, there are 3 crossings; one main one on interstate 5 and tby frogster - Main Forum

after 27 years in switzerland, i know a place or two! what do ya wanna do? porsche factory? check. Nurburgring? check. Autobahn cruising? check. Stelvio pass? check. throw in some good hotels and great food and i can guarantee you'll have a blast. what do we need, five or six couples? one week or 10 days? i could do it.by frogster - Main Forum
i can't count how many times i've been driving along WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON (so no variation in speed), come up behind somebody doing AT LEAST 10 KPH less than i am, pass them only to have them pass me a little ways down the road. then they of course slow down again and i catch up to them GOING EXACTLY THE SAME SPEED BECAUSE I HAVE CRUISE ON and I pass them, wash, rinse, repeat. when i pass tby frogster - Main Forum
i had a few sets of pilot sports (not 2's) on the '00 boxster S. while the non-N would last 20,000 km in back, the N-spec ones lasted just over 10,000 KM. caveat: i did 95% VERY spirited mountain driving in the alps and jura with almost no city driving. The N-specs appeared to my butt-meter to be a) noticeably stickier, and b) noticeably stiffer. YMMV. i always ran about 10% higher pressure thanby frogster - Main Forum
my completely subjective opinion of those tours is that you could do much better on your own. e.g. the FastLane Travel Alpine Trip: well over $20K for a week for two people??? i find that a bit steep. i've done lots of driving in my boxster through the alps and could easily do that same trip for a quarter of that price. a bit more if you wanted luxury hotels. the plus side of them is that they dby frogster - Main Forum
i've been reading about this practice for a few years now and it is really, really the scum of the scum. they buy copyright en masse and then search for the material on the web which is super easy. when they find it, they send a nasty letter telling the owner of the site to pay up or face legal action. they then squeeze the site owner for whatever they can get. it is a very, very nasty business bby frogster - Main Forum
this was taken a few summers ago on a trip to the east end of switzerland here. a incredibly beautiful area with magnificent boxster roads. i have pics of the stelvio pass but not with the boxster in them.by frogster - Main Forum
that was nasty. holy smokes.by frogster - Main Forum
it allows you to search for gas stations based on prices, etc. mobile version works very well.by frogster - Main Forum
that's furnace creek in death valley and it's a buck a gallon more than a few miles away out of the park. that place was crazy!by frogster - Main Forum
having lived 27 years in switzerland, i have rented many cars there and all over europe. my personal preference has always been sixt and europcar. i have found avis and hertz to be significantly more expensive for the identical cars. they'll all get you for traffic fines or damage to the car. never would a ford fiesta cost $100/day to rent. i just looked and you can get a Seat Leon (seat is VW) fby frogster - Main Forum
a satin type finish second i don't think matte black would look good at all. it would just look like they're really dirty.by frogster - Main Forum
this kind of stuff just adds to the mass of general knowledge of the people here. it's very generous of you to take the time and make the effort to post pics and a description. personally, i find these things fascinating but I am sorry that you had this problem. you took the tranny off in your own garage or a mechanic's? if it was your own, how many hours did it take you? just curious.by frogster - Main Forum
in most countries that i know of in europe it is illegal to mount different tires on the same axle. there is no law against mounting different tires on front and back. and this is from countries like germany and switzerland where you are not even allowed to use different wheels without approval. i may sound like a broken record but my boxster had 205s in the front and 255s in the back. how muchby frogster - Main Forum

i just took a look at porsche france and realized that the 987 bumper is straighter vertically than the 986 so maybe the problems is not so bad. my experience with with my 986. on the 986 i find that when they're bent, they look trashy and they're fragile. and they aren't vertical. the list goes on.by frogster - Main Forum
And the boxster's front bumper is curved. To me it looks like hell when plates are mounted improperly. And believe me, I looked for a solution for a long, long time living in Switzerland since the front plates there are much smaller then EU ones. Believe me, the Porsche frames are absolutely perfect for euro plates.by frogster - Main Forum
Although I think it looks stupid, I'll tell you how to do it from a technical perspective. if you want to do it properly, get the Porsche license plate holder from a country with the same size plates ( I don't know if all euro plates have identical dimensions. I know Belgian and Swiss plates are different) it's a kind of box that conforms to the curves of the bumper and it attaches to the bumperby frogster - Main Forum
The mechanics were laughing. All of this was visible from the customer area. Unbelievable.by frogster - Main Forum
i usually pull into a parking lot and just park wherever there are the fewest cars and closest to the exit no matter what car i'm driving. it's such a waste of time to deal with traffic while parking and i always seem to get stuck behind someone doing something stupid. when i was a kid, my father would circle the parking lot for what seemed like an eternity looking for that "perfect spot."
