Sounds like it will be sometime before we'll see an EV Boxster.by MikenOH - Main Forum
The Wall Street Journal had a long video on its website today regarding the issue of EVs and their utility in various settings and countries. The example of China seemed to be the friendliest place to own an EV with regards to access to charging equipment. Otherwise depending on where you live and if it was in a rural or Urban setting your circumstances could be very different. Add to that dependby MikenOH - Main Forum

Now if they can just do the right thing and put a flat 6 in the base and S models, all will be right with this platform.by MikenOH - Main Forum
I've had a number of driving episodes in very cold weather a couple different brands of max perf.tires on a 987 and our current 981. I drove back from vir to Ohio on a set of Goodyear asymmetric F1 tires, with temperatures around freezing and they weren't bad. Did the same thing with a set of Pirelli P Zeros, the original 981 Tire, and they felt very different-- very numb with a definite sense ofby MikenOH - Main Forum

The Boxster S review by these guys was positively brutal. On the other hand, the spider version in GT silver looked and sounded amazing. I'm not sure what you'd have to do to get an allocation for one of those, but even though it'll probably be North 100K us, I think it would be worth it.by MikenOH - Main Forum

+ 1 on the RAV4 hybrid. After reading the reviews on the 2019 version I drove one and was impressed. We've got about 100k on our 2013 RAV4 and see the new hybrid as the likely replacement.by MikenOH - Main Forum
Found a YouTube video of a UK owner with the same issue on a 991.1 and he found it to be the plastic battery compartment cover which covers the battery, brake fluid reservoir and wipers. After examining the mounting points in the underside of the cover it seemed clear that there were a couple things missing to secure the cover in the front trunk compartment. Thanks for the reply, Last I'm hoping it's not the Styrofoam under the tank because the fix requires considerable disassembly..including removal of the tank . Supposedly, this was a common enough problem on early 981's to prompt a TSB.by MikenOH - Main Forum
Had the car out the other evening and out of nowhere a loud squeak -- sounding like it was coming out of the dash--started. I thought it might be the visors or seats rubbing on something but that was not the case. The next day I looked in the front boot and everything seemed tight. There were times when it would stop even going over bumpy roads, but it seemed to come back especially when eitherby MikenOH - Main Forum
"On the one hand, I guess the last thing he wanted to hear on a Monday morning was that he needed to spend money on his car. On the other, the friggin' thing is literally an accident waiting to happen and he is clearly ignoring the risk." Sounds about right. He was most likely aware of it and didn't want to hear confirmation from someone he didn't know. Usually, if I see something wrong with aby MikenOH - Main Forum
A number of people on the Corvette forum think that the C8 will steal sales from the 718 platform because the prices are similar. Very different cars for sure--the new Vette is roughly 184" long--just a bit shorter than a 2019 Mustang--which is a big car-- and will weight in around 3400lbs. According to the specs, they've made major changes in the suspension--coil over rather than traverse leafby MikenOH - Main Forum

Way early to start thinking about storing a car, but we moved into a new house, now only have a 2 1/2 car garage to work with and have started thinking about what I need to get in place for this to work. After taking a measurement, the 981 should fit on one side when being stored and the other two will fit but it will be tight. getting it into position will be a PITA, so the notion of using wheeby MikenOH - Main Forum
Great comparison. "Tossable" is a fitting term for the 986; light, responsive and enough power to have fun with. After nearly 7 years in our 981S, the things that stand out for me are-styling, power, handling and comfort. I thought styling might change in the rankings after 7 years, but the car still gets a lot of compliments every time we get it on the road. I'm sure you'll enjoy your GTSby MikenOH - Main Forum

From the article: "Porsche is now pursuing a plan that could see pure-electric Boxster and Cayman variants using the company’s new PPE architecture offered alongside updated versions of today’s models featuring hybrid and plug-in hybrid drivetrains. Looking at rotor replacement and there seems to be a lot of options out there now other than OEM from Suncoast. After a lot of track days, the rears are now at the minimum (after 6 years) but the fronts which were replaced in 3 years ago--and not a lot of track time--have a lot of cracks to the point where probably need to go also. speaking of real world issues, as Mike said, but more apt for EVs in northern areas during the winter months: The author tested a Hyundia EV SUV in southern ON. for a bit and reported what the mileage was on a drive after a overnight charge. The temps--below freezing--knocked the rated mileage down coming off a charge significantly--from 415km to 300km. Then driving style--like major highwaysby MikenOH - Main Forum
