The TechnoFix is the adaptation to add oil to the bearing. On 987s if you don't want to replace the bearing because you don't want to open the engine, you can still remove the outer seal of the bearing and install the oiling system of the DOF. The cigarette lighter connection only works if the battery is just weak and allows the circuit to charge it a bit. If the battery dies, no matter how much juice you send through the cigarette lighter, it won't do a thing. It's ALWAYS (as Boxsterra said above) a good thing to route the emergency cable to the tow hook hole. Do in now. If you don't, you may regret it one day. The timing chain does not stretch exactly. If it looses some of the rollers it can get a bit loose, but what generally creates the rattle is the chain guides that wear down over time. If the rattle goes away after a few seconds of idling, you're OK. My car is at almost 300K and I've never replaced the chain. It does rattle on cold startup a bit. If you're asking about the spot where the red arrow is, that is NOT a lift point. A lift point is the piece that appears in the upper-center part of your photo, with the hole in the middle. There are four of those on the car. One each behind the front tires and one each in front of the rears. Happy Boxstering, Pedroby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum

It was the AOS. One of the ways it fails is by a visual tear in the diaphragm. But there are other ways, such as a detachment of the diaphragm from the sides of the housing and also having micro-tears which are almost invisible to the naked eye, yet allow for droplets of oil to pass through as liquid oil. QuoteBoxsterra that people who are worried about IMS bearing failure are willing to pay more. I do however question that that constitutes anything but a negligible percentage of the Porsche buying community, most of whom aren't on the internet forums. A lot of people are. Most aren't. I don't agree with the assessment that a replaced IMS doesn't bring value to a used Boxster. In my experience it does. When I do a PPI and point out that the particular car has a particular IMS Bearing Kit installed and that the value should be adjusted upwards by $X.XX the buyers almost never complain or argue with it. The original metal hood would have killed me, no doubt. Doing 75 mph when that opens, there's no stopping it. As I stated in the article, the original hood would have taken out the windshield and would have cracked my skull. The structure is identical on both carbon fibre and metal. Hood pins would have prevented it, for sure. Happy Boxstering, Pedroby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum

Rev matching just takes practice. It's really simple. When you are going to slow down for a turn and you're coming down from high RPMs, as you get off the gas to get on the brakes then clutch the RPMs can drop by 2,000 or 3,000. The trick is to blip the accelerator with your right foot without loosing pressure on the brake pedal in order to bring the RPMs up about 1,000 so that when you shift anby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum

I'm on my original clutch (280K miles) Of those miles I estimate that 78K are track miles. If you rev-match when shifting and don't do all-out launches, your clutch never wears. But, having said that I know it's not the norm. I've replaced many customer clutches with as little as 20K miles. The worse you can do to a clutch is leave your left foot resting on the pedal. As has been noted, that indicator is an oil pressure light which goes bright when oil pressure drops. When you look at the oil level gauge, the one that comes on after you fill up, every bar is NOT one quart, and the bottom most bar is not empty. The gauge only shows the final 2.5 quarts. So, each bar is equivalent to 1/3 qt. You should leave blank the topmost bar. That shows full. If you add tby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum
